27. All Hail The Prince

Bree   I walked up and down the stairs, looking into each room. I’d convinced Jamie to go to bed since he hadn’t slept in a while and looked like he could use it. I was looking for Chayton's room, I wanted to talk to him while I could.   Finally, I found a room that was navy blue with little glowing stars all over the walls. And Chayton was lying in the bed in that room, staring up at the ceiling.   "Hey, Chayton," I said and walked in.   He jumped a little then smiled.   "Hey, Bree!"   I walked over to his bed and sat down on the end. "So, I wanna talk to you now."   "Sure, about what?"   "Okay... Well, I also wanted to know more about the king and vampire stuff I don't get it enough to be able to make an educated decision."   "Hm well, that's a good question... The vampire kingdom is basically the same as in all your history stuff about kings, mostly like those ones in England. Except you also have to make sure there aren't vampires running around eating people and getting caught, we have to stay hidden now... But when you aren't busy with all your queenly duties there's a game room, TV room, there's a kitchen just like the one here, you can have pets, pretty much whatever you want.   The king is pretty nice I guess, he spoils people he likes a lot. He gets carried away with his work sometimes and nobody will see him for days or even weeks unless you're in a work meeting with him. If someone hurt you he might kill them, at least knock their teeth out though. If he isn't busy he can be real cuddly... But he's also kinda jealous and overprotective."   That was a lot to think about... It sounded both awesome and horrible at the same time. But I had to wonder how Chayton knew all this...   So I asked. "How do you know all that? Does everyone know that much?"   "Um no not everyone knows that much... I'm the uh prince I guess, adopted prince, except now I think I'm the outcast prince for uh treason."   “Treason? Why?” I asked. I couldn’t imagine him doing anything bad enough to be outcast.   “Uhm I don’t know, maybe kidnapped the new queen?” He said in a kind of duh voice.   “Oh,” I said dumbly. How had I not seen that? Duh! “Sorry?” I offered lamely.   Chayton just chuckled. “No problem, worth it to get out of there.”
