Bree
I peeked around the corner of the stairs to make sure Jamie wasn't there, he'd only just stopped watching me like a hawk an hour ago. I was going outside though, I had to talk to those vampires. I had no idea what to say or even why, but I had to.
The room was clear, only Chayton was on the couch sitting in there. He grinned when he saw me. "Heh, making wolfy mad? Want me to come with you?" I guessed he liked anything that would ruffle Jamie’s fur, but shouldn’t he be a bit more worried for my safety? Oh well, I wasn’t going to complain that he wasn’t stopping me.
I smirked and walked around the corner into the room. "Your choice," I said and went towards the door.
He thought for a minute. "I'll just stay, but if I hear trouble I'll be out in two seconds. Oh, and try not to get them angry at you."
I nodded and opened the door, slipping out quickly before Jamie had a chance to pop up and ruin it. If he caught me now I'd never be out of his sight again in my life. For a split second, I thought that might not be so bad but quickly pushed that thought out of my mind.
As soon as I stepped out there was an uproar. I stood up straighter and walked over to where the king was.
"Hello. What exactly is it you want with me?" I asked in a clear, confident voice, though inside I was trembling.
"Ah, nice to meet you, Sabrina." He said with a smile. "I'm King Allen, and I'm looking for a new queen. How would you like to be a queen?"
I was quiet for a minute. How did I say that I didn't know without being offensive? "I'm not sure, I don't really know what that would mean," I said, buying myself some time to plan my next move.
"Well, I would take you to my castle and we'd get married," King Allen began, "And then we'd get you used to all your queenly duties. It'd be gradual, and you'd get whatever you wanted. I'm sure my s- Chayton, has shown you the magic in his playhouse, the same magic is in my castle. Plus there are games, servants, books, pets, and whatever else you could wish for."
"You know... If the magic is already here and I don't have to do any queen stuff why should I come?" I asked. I knew that'd make him pretty angry, but I wanted to know! Anyways, I didn’t really want a guy who’d get mad at me, especially if he was a king who could execute me. Hadn’t those vampires said something about I couldn’t go to the castle or whatever until the queen was taken care of? Taken care of, being…?
He frowned and there were shocked murmurs from the vampires around him. "Don't you want to be a queen? Have all the power you could want?"
I shook my head. "No, actually. With power comes responsibility and people trying to kill you for it. Thank you for the offer, but I decline." I bowed slightly and turned to walk away.
Before I took two steps a rope wrapped around my foot and tightened. "It wasn't an offer." The king said coldly and the rope began dragging me towards the vampires. I pulled against it and fell down, sliding across the leaves and sticks towards certain enslavement.
Right as my foot was about to cross the line, Jamie was beside me. He growled menacingly and with a swift movement, turned wolf long enough to bite the rope, then back to human. He picked me up and held me out at arm's length, yet safely away from the vampires.
"What the heck are you thinking? Can't you listen to me for once? God, Bree!" He yelled then hugged me in a bone-crushing hug. "Don't ever scare me like that again." He whispered then turned to the vampires.
"If she says no, THE ANSWER IS NO AND I WILL PERSONALLY KILL WHOEVER OPPOSES HER! Now leave her be, go away, if she changes her mind she'll come to you herself. It's her choice you bloody leeches!" He yelled, voice terrifyingly loud, echoing off the trees.
In about thirty seconds we were in my bedroom and Jamie sat on my bed, sat me on his lap, and hugged me tightly.
"Are you okay?" He asked after a minute. All I could see in his eyes was pain and terror. Something I’d never seen in him before.
I nodded. I was okay but still in shock after the vampires tried to drag me away and Jamie exploded. I was kind of scared of him now, and maybe a little angry… At both he and Chayton.
"I'm sorry if I scared you... I was just worried." Jamie whispered.
"It's okay," I said quietly, even though it was a lie. I was calming down in his firm arms but also thinking more clearly. Were either of these two good? Jamie was a little overprotective and his temper was a bit much… Chayton didn’t seem to care enough, and he wasn’t there when I was getting drug away. He’d said he’d come if there was trouble.
With a sigh, I gave up on these thoughts. They were too complicated and I was too tired to think about them, so I closed my eyes and went to sleep.

I felt someone stroking my hair, it felt good... I kept my eyes closed, hoping they'd keep doing it. Mom used to do that, before she decided I was dangerous and insane... It reminded me of home.
Thinking of home got me thinking again... I could never go home, could I? Not if the vampires were after me. What was I going to do? I liked both Jamie and Chayton, and they could both keep me safe, but they couldn't be near each other too much longer and I was still kind of mad at them. I didn’t like Chayton the way I liked Jamie, but that didn’t mean I wanted to ditch him. I was running out of time to decide what to do, or someone was going to die. I couldn't let that happen.
I sighed and opened my eyes, it was Chayton there. "Hello beautiful." He said with a smile.
"Hi Chayton." I said and yawned.
"So how'd you like the king?" He smirked.
"Oh he was amazing." I rolled my eyes. "Amazingly forceful and sugar-coated." I tried to keep the anger out of my voice, had he just watched the whole thing?
Chayton laughed. "Pretty much, you caught on quickly. Gonna be a queen?" He bowed deeply and kissed my hand.
"Nope! I'm not doing any queen stuff. Did they leave or are they still here?"
"Oh well, you can be my personal queen." Chayton winked. "And most of them left, but they have five guards to make sure you don't escape and take you away if you were gonna be a queen."
I laughed, he was really upping his flirting game now. Even though I was fuming it was funny to hear him flirt.
Then a question popped into my head, a way I could escape all this if it went right...
"Hey Chayton, if I was a vampire or werewolf would they still want me as queen?"
Chayton hesitated a little and frowned. "If you were a vampire, then maybe... Depends on who turned you. If it was me, then yes they'd still want you probably because I'm technically royalty. If you were a werewolf... Then no... They wouldn't want you... A werewolf can't be turned into a vampire and they can only have a vampire queen." He looked reluctant to be telling me that, probably knowing what I'd do.
What I'd do... What was that? I had ideas at least now. I just had to make up my mind. I had one more question though.
“If I was queen, would there be any way to get out once I was in?”
Chayton gave me a long look before replying. “Death.”
