Leah took over the administration and management of the Santa Monica Shuffleboard Society shortly after college and within six months had re-organized the league of amateurs and professionals of all ages and sexes as commissioner into a highly successful and well-oiled revenue producing entity. The key early on was her elaboration of some “Tips from Leah,” which infused locals with an enthusiasm and interest for the game not seen before or since.
“It was an outstanding effort on her part,” Craig Winslow, Mayor of Santa Monica at the time said. “We were very happy to see the old shuffleboard courts renovated and people from all walks of life participating in the great game. And we really needed the money at that time.”
