We had found what seemed to be an empty spot away from anyone else to begin the ritual preparations.
Sam had explained that Irene would go through something similar to the trials La'Hanan had been through and the rest of us would simply go through a portal which would lead us into another realm where we would be able to wait for Irene before making another portal to get back.
Irene seemed at ease with what she was set to face and I couldn't help but marvel at her strength.
Going over to where she sat, I sat beside her, keeping my voice soft so the others wouldn't hear.
"Hey, I've been wondering, if you were pregnant..." I paused, it was a touchy subject and I didn't want to upset her, "I guess I'm asking if you think you are."
