Ariane: I gasped awake—the world collapsing in around me, smoke and sorrow still clinging to my lungs. I didn't think. I didn't breathe. I just moved as Eiradon's grief became a tangible thing in my being. The sheets tangled around my legs as I launched out of the bed, sweat cooling against my skin like frost in the chill of the room.
