Chapter 3

Alpha King Rhett

My wolf was going crazy by this 'wall'. Something wasn't right and I could smell blood wolfbane and silver. Caleb my wolf says she is right here I linked Caleb. I could see his confusion. Caleb looks at the beta "does this wall open by any chance" Caleb asks and I see the smile on Alpha Roberts face drop. "no it doesnt sorry. why do you ask?" Alpha Robert asks. "i can sense my mate right here" I say and both Robert and Nate go wide eyed. "so I suggest that if there is a hidden room or door it opens now" I say fighting my wolf even more.

Caleb's POV

I had never seen Rhett fighting his wolf this so hard. His eyes kept flashing amber and I knew if he lost control of him it wasn't going to end well at all. But the amount of blood i was smelling was too fresh and too much for even me to deny something bad happened. I grab Beta Nate by the shirt. "your king gave you an order open it now" I growl as the Beta squirms in my grip. "b***h got what was coming to her" Beta Nate said and I dropped him. Rhetts eyes were golden now. His wolf in full control and with one motion i heard the snap of the betas neck. "you just killed my beta for no reason" Alpha Robert yelled as I found a handle on the wall. I gave it a pull and the door moved. My breath hitched as I saw what was behind the door. A girl was curled on the floor dryed blood covered her. Her breaths were ragged and she wasn't moving. I took a step closer then averted my eyes. She was naked and if this was Rhetts mate all hell was going to break loose.

A roar shook the whole dungeon and pack house. Rhett walked over to her and touched her cheek. He then looked at the Alpha. Alpha Robert waisted no time and took off running. Jace bring me a blanket now to the dungeon I mind link Jace as Rhett takes off after the alpha. I heard Rhett what happened? why is he so mad? Jace linked me as I heard his footsteps coming down the stairs. "why do I smell blood so bad" he asks as he reaches me then freezes. "that is Rhetts mate" I comment and I see the color leave Jaces face. "Oh f**k" he said before grabbing his phone. "Hey Bells we are gonna be coming home with a severely malnourished female. Multiple open wounds sever scaring and it's Rhetts mate" Jace says into the phone. Bella, Jaces mate was one of our healers. "Yes we will be leaving soon. Neither me or Caleb are gonna grab her right now. Rhetts on a rampage " Jace adds and I take the blanket to cover her up.

Soon Rhett comes storming back and both Jace and I move out of the way. He gently picks the girl up and cradles her to his chest. "move" he orders and we both rush to the car. I climbed into the passenger seat and Jace started the SUV. The second Rhett shut the door Jace floored it. Our pack was 30 minutes from this one. I glanced in the mirror and my heart broke. Rhett, the man who never cried was crying whispering to his unconscious mate in his lap. We pulled up to the pack hospital and Bella was out front. Her belly shown as she waddled towards us. "trama room 1 is open Alpha a team is waiting " Bella said as her breath hitched. The small women Rhett carried was covered in blood bruises scars. Plus she looked so underweight that I was shocked she was still breathing at all.

Rhetts POV

I kept my mates body covered. I knew Caleb put the blanket over her naked body at the house. I fought my wolf to not tear him up for looking at her naked body. But I know Caleb, he wasn't like that. I saw the way he turned his eyes once he saw she was naked. How both Caleb and Jace didnt grab her even though it was clear she needed help. Alpha Robert got away but I had plans for him. The longer I held her the more I could smell both men on her. Which ment one of two things. She had s*x with both willingly but more then likely I knew it wasn't. As I set her on the table in the trama room is growl at the first guy to try and move the blanket. I couldn't keep my wolf back and I was trying. But with our mate so severely hurt he didnt want anyone to touch her. "Rhett I need you to step out now" Bellas voice came from behind me. "i know the look, you won't allow anyone to work on her. I need you to step out so we can get her proper care. All males will exit and I will change her before we start anything" Bella says and shake my head. "im not leaving her" I say through gritted teeth "alpha I understand but I need you to step out. For a few minutes please" Bella said placing a hand on my chest. "All males out of the room now!" Bella yelled. She then nodded to one of the other females to remove the blanket. My heart sank as I saw just how bad my little mate looked. I watched them quickly pull a gown on her then start treating the wounds. "Jason bring me an iv drip" Bella called into the hall way. "Jace take him out" Bella said as I feel Jace place a hand on my arm.

Jace gives me a look and I follow him.

I sank into the chair my mind racing. "Rhett" I barely registered that someone said my name. I was just staring at the doors. "Earth to Alpha King?" Caleb's voice rang out. I glance at him "did you get Robert?" he asks and I shake my head. "put a bounty on his head. anyone harboring or helping him faces the same punishment that he does" I say as I stand up. "Bella said not to let you go back yet " Jace said gently grabbing my arm. "i cant just sit here" I scream. Neither Jace or Caleb flinch, they knew me. Those two were the only ones brave enough to stand against me. Normally that didn't happen but once in a while they would. "Alpha" I hear Bellas voice ring out. I turn to look at her. "follow me" she said softly. She leads me into a room. On the bed is my mate and she is hooked up to everything. "sit" Bella says softly and then she starts listing everything. Wolfbane poisoning, silver burns, broken bones, and then she paused. "alpha we did a pelvic exam, necessary in cases like this. She has so much bruising im almost worried it might not heal" she said and my heart dropped. "those bastards" I growl as I touch my mates hand. "we put her into a coma to heal. Hopefully with the meds her wolf will be able to help properly heal her and she can wake up in a few days" Bella says before leaving the room. I stare at my mate and listen to my wolf howl in my head. "no one will ever touch you again. I swear " I say holding her limp cool hand.
