Chapter two

Let’s go for a run, I want out Lia whines in my head. Okay that sounds like a good plan. I get home and change into some shorts and a baggy T-shirt and head out to the woods along our pack border. I take off my clothes and place them in my bag and tie it around my leg as I shift into Lia. My bones breaking and reshaping as she takes over. Lia runs all around, occasionally running into our patrolmen and nodding hello to them. We know most of the warriors in the pack since they frequent my office after intense training. The blood moon pack has about 700 pack members. The alpha, Aidan, trains our warriors hard and well to protect us. He has always treated me well since I fix up a lot of his warriors, he knows he can always rely on me 24/7.     Once Lia has had enough, we run back home and I take a long hot shower to wash away the day. I mentally prepare myself for tomorrow, I have to join a meeting with our elders as they plan a strategy of dealing with rogues along our pack borders. They like me in there so I can be nearby to help anybody with healing and whatnot. The meetings just get so boring sometimes.     I wake early the next day and get ready, putting on some professional but also comfortable clothing. I enjoy my coffee in my favorite chair watching the sunrise over the lake view I have behind my little cottage. I look at my watch and sigh knowing I have to leave for the pack house shortly. I get into my Buick and drive the few miles down to the pack house.     I’ve always thought our pack house was beautiful. An old style brick with large columns and a huge wrap around porch. It’s three stories high and mansion size to fit a large kitchen to host and several rooms for when guests visit the packs as well as the alpha and beta’s quarters. I walked inside and went straight for the kitchen to get more coffee knowing I would need it to stay awake for the next few hours. I greeted the kitchen staff politely as I came in, they knew to expect me now when there were meetings planned.     I headed over to the conference room for the meeting lazily. Alpha Aidan was talking with his Beta, Travis, when I walked in. They both nodded towards me and said, “good morning” as I went to my chair over to the side. Everyone bustled in within the next ten minutes or so and Alpha Aidan started the meeting.     “Good morning everybody, thank you for being here today.” Alpha Aidan was a tall man of 6’4” and was a head taller than most in the room with big muscles. He was very intimidating but I knew he had a big heart that cared deeply for his pack. “As you all know we are having some issues with rogues that we want to tackle.” Alpha Aidan continued discussing what him and Travis had planned and I tried my best to listen for locations and times to know where I was best needed and when. The alpha also mentioned a nearby pack would be coming in and helping us out which I thought was surprising because normally we could handle things on our own with our big pack size. The pack would be arriving within the next couple of days and would begin training with our warriors so we knew how best to complement each other in battle.     Once the meeting was over I headed over to the training grounds. I didn’t train much but I did occasionally to make sure I could defend myself enough on the field just in case.     I was sparring with a good friend of mine, Leo. We finally called it quits after a few hours honing each other’s skills. “You really do pack a good punch, doc.” Leo laughs out of breath as I lay on the mat trying to catch my breath. “Got to keep you on your toes somehow, Leo.”     “Want to grab something to eat? Maybe go over to Campfire Grill? I know it’s your favorite.” I agree and we go take quick showers so as not to call attention with our level of stinky when we go over to the bar.     We get to Campfire and order. Leo and I catch up on work stories and life. “I can’t believe we are having the Diamond Lake Pack come in to help us. I’ve never know Aidan to ask for help.” I say.     “These rogues are getting annoying and they’re bothering Diamond Lake too so we are just combining resources to make it easier.” Leo replies while munching on fries.     “I hope they’re a nice pack. I do not really want to deal with some pack that thinks they’re better than everyone.”     “Nah, I’ve heard good things about their pack. Their alpha, Raphael, is apparently a big muscles softie.”     “Sounds just like Aidan to me.” I chuckle.     We parted ways after an enjoyable meal and company. I looked over my patients for the next day on my phone and then curled up in bed.
