CHAPTER  5 : MY ALPHA

1654 Words
Bella was flipping through a checklist behind the reception desk, checking items they needed for the upcoming tourist event. Just then, the storage room door creaked open. Edward stepped in. Bella looked up, startled. “Did you change your mind and come to help us?” He leaned against the wall casually. “Didn’t you want me to come here? She frowned, “I didn't ask you to come.” Click. She turned the knob. It didn’t budge. Bella twisted harder. “Wait. Did you lock this?” He blinked. “It’s probably your uncle.” She sighed and leaned on the door. “I get it, okay? You don’t want to help. But why are you trying to drive a wedge between me and my uncle?” Bella clenched her jaw. “You know what, I’m just gonna…” Edward walked past her, cracked his knuckles. “Let me kick this door down.” “Wait!” She rushed in front of him, blocking the door. “Somebody’s gonna come! And I don’t have money to replace a broken door.” He sighed and leaned back. “Fine.” Bella slid to the floor and rested her back on the wall. “We’ll just wait…” Edward sat down beside her. Their shoulders were inches apart. “Don’t come closer,” she said quickly. “If someone walks in, they might think we’re… like, together or something.” He smirked. “Relax, tough girl. I’ll stay in my lane.” But he couldn’t help but look at her—arms crossed, pouting, pretending she wasn’t freezing. “You know,” he murmured, “if you’re cold… I can consider hugging you.” She gave him a side-eye glare. “Nope. That won’t be necessary.” “You sure?” “Yes.” “Even just a little?” “No!” He chuckled. “Alright. You’re a tough girl. Got it.” A few moments later, the temperature dropped. Bella shivered despite herself. Edward noticed, his teasing smile fading. Quietly, he shrugged off his jacket and wrapped it over her shoulders. She hesitated, then leaned slightly against him. Within minutes, her breathing slowed, and her head gently dropped onto his shoulder. She was asleep. Edward stayed still, heart pounding—but peaceful. That is, until… Click. The door opened. Bella’s uncle stood there. His eyes widened at the sight of Bella sleeping on Edward’s shoulder. Bella’s eyes shot open. She sat up instantly. “Uncle! Wait—it’s not what it looks like!” But Mr. Basil was already gone. As they stepped outside the hotel, Edward glanced at Bella. “Okay. I’ll take over organizing the hotel’s travel festival. Is that enough? Bella looked at him, touched. A slow smile formed. “That’s more than enough.” He added, “Now… let’s get drinks.” They went out and drank until Bella got drunk. They stumbled in through the door, laughing and swaying slightly. Bella leaned against him, giggling. “Hey, handsome.” Edward chuckled. “I think you drank a little too much tonight.” She poked his chest. “Hey! I’ve been working for years, I never had a boyfriend… never had a vacation… and now?” She grinned. “God finally sent me a handsome man.” She looked into his eyes, suddenly softer. She trailed a finger down his arm. “You make me feel safe, even when I don’t know why.” Edward swallowed hard. “Bella…” But she suddenly yawned and leaned on his chest. “So warm…” He guided her to the couch gently. “Let’s get you to sleep.” She mumbled, “You’re so lucky I don’t jump you right now.” He froze mid-step. “What?” “Hmm?” “Nothing…” He covered her with a blanket. But just as he was about to step away… She pulled his wrist. “Stay.” He hesitated. Then, nodded. Her eyes opened slowly, her heart still racing. Her gaze landed on Edward—Mr. Memory, sitting beside her, his chest rising and falling in peace. She traced her fingers lightly over his arm, whispering, “Your lips are so sexy… I want to kiss them.” Edward blinked, his golden-brown eyes meeting hers as he stretched slightly. “Well,” he said with a small smirk, “you started it… you better finish it.” He pulled her close, and their lips met in a passionate kiss, one that ignited the fire all over again. His hands roamed her back, her fingers dug into his shoulder as the connection between them grew deeper than either could explain. She whispered between gasps, “You feel so good…” But he suddenly paused, pulling back slightly, searching her eyes. “Are you sure you want this? Because once we start, there’s no going back.” Bella nodded, heart pounding. “I don’t know... but I don’t want you to stop.” A soft growl escaped him. “Then sit back, beautiful… and enjoy the ride.” The passion carried them through the night. Next Morning Bella and Mr. Memory were woken with a knock from the door. Bang! Bang! Bang! A loud knock startled them both from their sleep. Bella scrambled to the door, still wrapping herself in a blanket. When she opened it, her face went pale. It was her uncle—and behind him stood three guards in black. “Uncle?” she asked, confused. “What’s going on?” Her uncle walked in without waiting for permission. “He’s coming with us.” The guards marched straight to Edward. “What are you doing?!” Bella shouted, blocking the way. Her uncle’s voice was cold. “I’m removing the parasite before he poisons this hotel and ruins our family.” “But he’s done nothing wrong!” “You don’t know what he’s hiding,” her uncle snapped. The guards moved forward. Bella tried to stop them, but one pushed her aside roughly. She hit the wall and gasped. Edward’s vision went red. “Get your hands off her!” he roared, his voice deeper, darker—more beast than man. Suddenly, his body trembled, and his wolf burst out. A massive, dark-furred Alpha wolf stood in the room, its eyes glowing gold, growling with such force that even the floor vibrated. The guards froze in terror. “What the hell… he’s—he’s an ALPHA?!” one of them screamed. The wolf lunged, knocking two of them into the wall. The last one ran. Bella’s uncle tried to escape too, but the wolf snarled and chased them out, stopping only when the threat was gone. A few moments later, Edward stumbled back into the room, his form shifting as he changed back, bruised, bleeding. Bella gasped and rushed to him. “Your side! You’re bleeding—oh God!” He leaned on her, but before she could reach for the first aid box, she instinctively placed her hand on his injury. Something strange happened. A warm glow surrounded her fingers… and right before their eyes, his bleeding wound healed completely. Edward blinked. “W-What… what just happened?” Bella’s eyes were wide with shock. “I don’t… I don’t know… I just touched you.” He stared at the place where the wound was moments ago, now smooth, unmarked. Bella whispered, “I’ve never healed anyone before. I don’t even have a wolf. So how was that possible? He looked at her, awe in his eyes. Bella… You’re special. And I think…” He paused, his voice trembling. “I think you're my mate.” Bella went and prepared breakfast after they finished eating the breakfast. She cleaned the table and told Mr Memory that she's taking him out later. Bella had just finished cleaning the dishes after their quiet dinner. Mr. Memory was folding the napkins, still licking his lips from the roasted chicken Bella cooked. "That was amazing," he said with a lazy grin. Bella chuckled, "At least you didn’t insult my cooking this time." He shrugged. “I’ve learned to be grateful for meals I didn’t burn myself.” They both laughed. After dinner, Bella quickly slipped into the bathroom to freshen up. She was preparing to go shopping for some hotel supplies—a necessary step for the upcoming promotional event. She wore her hair in a loose ponytail and stepped out in simple jeans and a pink sweater. But when she reached for her handbag, her phone buzzed. A notification from the bank. Her eyes narrowed. Her account was lower than she expected. Frowning, she logged into the hotel’s expense tracker. Her heart sank. There were unpaid bills, delayed tax fees, and maintenance charges—things her uncle had promised were already taken care of. “This can’t be real…” she whispered. The debt was too high for her to cover alone. She was still staring at the screen when the hotel door swung open and Edwin walked in, flanked by a cold breeze and colder intentions. He wore a smug expression, his polished shoes echoing across the floor. “Seal the place off,” Edwin said to the two men behind him. “Calculate the valuations. We'll sell it off immediately.” Bella turned sharply. “What? You can’t do that!” “This place is bleeding money,” Edwin said with a shrug. “I’m saving you from embarrassment.” “You don’t have the authority!” Bella snapped. “I do now,” he said smoothly. “Your uncle signed over his rights to me as acting VP.” Bella’s heart dropped. Just then, footsteps approached behind her. Mr. Memory stepped in between Bella and Edwin. Wait! Mr.Memory said. But the moment Edwin laid eyes on him—his smugness turned to shock. His voice dropped. “Edward…”
