Ethan walked toward the exit, but he paused and turned to Xander. "What about the senior government advisor who offered assistance to the Thorne family this morning? Has he made a move yet?"
"He has already sent the first contract draft to Miss Clara's desk, sir. Just as you anticipated, there's a legal trap in article fourteen."
Ethan offered a faint smile, the kind that sent a shiver down Xander's spine. "Let Clara handle it. She needs to learn how to tame a viper. But keep watching from a distance. I don't want any other 'variables' popping up tonight."
Ethan stepped out into the heavy rain and walked toward the black car waiting for him. Inside, he saw his phone light up. An incoming message from an unknown number contained GPS coordinates in a pine forest north of the city.
