As the word resounds throughout the scene and throughout my skull, my true eyes jut open with a gasp. Looking around, I find my room exactly as it was moments ago: armchair in the corner, wooden walls and ceiling, TV and stand in front of the king sized bed, doors to both the bathroom and main building, window with curtains letting the day's light seep through. And still in front of me sits Mrs. Santiago, eyes wide with her hands on my shoulders, as if she's spent a while trying to get my attention. But something's still different. At first, I check every detail to verify nothing has changed. The scruffy carpeting is the same. The light fixture above the bed is there.
