Earlier in the date, when our drinks had come out, I noticed something. A subtle shift in the flavor of my drink. Normally, the cherry syrup mixes well with whatever ginger ale or lemon-lime soda the restaurant chooses until the only taste is that of a Shirley Temple. However, this time, I found I could separate the two flavors rather distinctively. The cherry flavor is rich and sweet with a hint of tackiness from the sticky syrup, while the ginger ale is soft yet vibrant, its bubbles of carbonation consistently present. It isn't bad, just different. Then, when the appetizer came out, I was pretty distracted by the flames and the smell. But once I took a bite of the chicken skewer, my eyes had widened for a second. Again, there was a subtle shift in flavor, or rather what I was expecting
