By the time I finally stopped playing my stupid mobile games, I looked up to find the room had grown dark. Not completely black, but dim enough that the sun had definitely set. Taking off my headset, I listened to the quiet of the cabin. It had never been a loud place before, but there were usually some sounds. The sizzling of grilled meats, a male voice or two talking on the phone, or the dialogue of some TV show playing. But now, even the crickets had gone silent, as if everything was waiting. Waiting for me to make my first move. With a sigh, I get up, and head over to my bedroom door. I think it's been long enough. The scent of cooked beef and melted cheese hits me first as I walk into the bright kitchen. Upon the table sits a dozen or so grilled patties, still steaming from the pan.
