Getting to Know Eachother

“Hey.” I said, startling Samantha out of her trance.

“Hi.” She replied back.

“So what did you want to talk about?” I asked her.

She patted the bed next to her and I sat down facing her. She looked nervous and didn’t know where to start.

“I know you feel the mate bond too, and it confuses you just like it does me. But there is only one explanation to why my dad is mated to your mom and I’m mated to you.” She started.

“And what could that be? I know it’s been hard on my mom since my dad died and ever since she met your dad, she has been so happy. That’s why I held my wolf in when she screamed it in the back of my head. I didn’t want to make it seem weird for her.” I responded.

“Not one wolf descendent is ever mated to the same bloodline. Like how it seems right now, my dad being mated to your mom and you being mated with myself.” She said. “But that’s not the case I’m trying to prove. My mother and father adopted me when the pack doctor told her she physically could not conceive a child. I was only a few years old.”

“Wow that makes more sense now.” I said.

“Yeah. My mother and father still wanted to have a blood heir and give me a sibling, but when she was only 3 months pregnant, she passed away due to the complications.” She looked down into her lap and was playing with her hands. This has to be hard for her to talk about. So, I reached over and grabbed her hands. There were so many sparks, it took a whole lot of fighting to keep Lunar down and calmed so she didn’t scare Samantha.

“I am so sorry for your loss. I have been working so much that I didn’t get to learn more about you guys. When my mom told me that she had met her second chance mate, I was so happy for her. I was also happy that she wasn’t alone while I was working.” I feel bad for them. She lost not only her mother but an unborn sibling. I’m sure she lost her dad the same way I lost my mom to depression too.

“It’s okay, I busied myself in training and learning the ways in being a successful Beta like my father. It was hard on him too, but he made sure that his duties as my father and the Beta were completed. But now that your mother has come along, I am forever grateful now because he has her and hopefully I could have you too…” She started playing with my long slim fingers with her own.

Can we keep her? We have been mateless for too long Shelb. We will grow stronger with our fated mate by our side. Lunar plead.

I don’t know Lu. We have to get to know her first. I answered.

I looked at Samantha and took in her beauty for a moment. Secretly thanking the moon goddess for making her my mate.

“So, let’s get to know each other, why don’t we?” Samantha asked after a few minutes of my staring. It snapped me out of my daze early enough to catch what she had asked.

“Sure, do you want to go first?” I had asked back.

“Yeah, I don’t mind.” She started. “I am 6 feet, even. I have been training for the Beta position since I was 14 years old. I’m naturally a blonde and tanned. Same as my wolf. My wolf’s name is Skylar. I love romance and comedy movies or shows. In my free time I love to swim and knit. Ummm… that’s all I can really say.”

Okay Shelby I think this is our dream girl right here and you’re telling me you want to consider making her our mate. Lunar sarcastically stated.

Oh shut up you large snout mutt. You know it’s hard for us to trust new people. It always has been. I bit back at her.

“Well, I’m 6 feet and 5 inches tall. Um- it’s been just my mom and I since we moved away from the pack house when my dad died. I work as a trauma nurse when we get attacks by rogues and as an ordinary nurse during our quiet months. My wolfs name is Lunar, we are both a natural ombré, and she is abnormally large for being a shewolf. And in my down time I like to take my mom shopping if she’s home or I catch up on some reading, I do love swimming as well. But, lately it’s been hard to find the time to go swimming.” I told Samantha about myself trying to keep it minimal like she had.

Her eyes kept flickering between blue and grey to gold and orange. Those must be her wolf’s eye color and she must be trying to take control, but failing miserably when her eyes stayed at her natural blue and grey eyes.

“Sorry, I was fighting Sky not to make her grand appearance, she’s excited that we found out mate and really would like to meet you and Lunar.” She finally said after a while.

“That’s okay, that’s how Lu feels about you guys as well. I don’t want to rush you guys into the mating bond yet and to take our time and get to know each other for a while. Maybe we can go for a run later and see if you can spend the night if you’d like.” I offered.

“Sure, that would be amazing. We would love to do both of those actually.” She smiled.

Goddess look at her smile, those perfect pearly whites. Pleeeease Shelbs can we make her ours yet? Lu begged

Maybe if you behave out on our run later, I can convince her to sleep in our room tonight with us. But you have to be a good wolf. I warned.

“Why don’t we head back down so they don’t think we’re plotting anything ridiculous.” Sam stated.

“That sounds like I good idea.” I laughed.
