Chapter Eighteen

Selena got back to her dorm after bidding her mum goodbye and realized she couldn't do it. She couldn't go back into her room alone. Her mum had insisted on coming in with her, but she turned her offer down, saying she could handle it. She asked if she was sure about that and she nodded convincingly. She really thought she could. Besides, she didn't want anyone to be there when she got in, just in case the note she wrote was lying somewhere. She had no idea how deeply she was affected by the incident.
Selena stopped on Trina Bayle's floor and knocked on her door. She was going to ask her to come with her because Trina paid her a number of visits at the hospital. Unfortunately, there was no response. The door was locked, and she had no option but to go up to her room alone.
Selena inserted the key and turned the knob. she wanted to walk right in, but a thought popped up in her head, preventing her from doing so immediately.
"What if I go in and the person who killed Alex jumps from behind the door and slits my throat?"
It was a terrifying thought, but she consoled herself with the fact that the police had searched everywhere around the dorm. There were no strangers lurking around. Besides, with all the publicity going on with the case, she was doubtful the killer would hang around.
Selena waited outside for a couple of seconds, listening for any sounds that might come from inside the room. There was none. With shaky fingers, she pushed the door open and screamed in shock.
"Surprise!!!" her dorm mates screamed, with excited smiles on their faces.
They almost scared her out of her mind. She let out a sigh of relief and smiled at the many faces who were there to welcome her with smiles and hugs.
"Sorry!" Vanessa Bridges stated, making a cute face.
Selena was forced to laugh. It was much better to be surprised by them, than by a psycho killer.
Trina Bayle came up to her and hugged her once everyone dispersed to drink.
"It's so good to have you back." She said, hugging her again.
"Thank you so much." Selena replied. "Thank you, guys!" She screamed at the crowd of students in her room.
It was really thoughtful of them to do something this special for her return. She had no idea she was loved this much by them.
"For every horrible person out there, there are tons of awesome ones." Selena smiled at the thought in her head.
