AARON WATCHED HIS MATE drive away and he headed back into the house, a nagging ache tugging at his chest. Damn, he hated that feeling when Jordan left him. He should be used to it now, but after being alone so long, he much preferred Jordan close. He stepped back in through the front door and looked towards the Beta whose face was pale, his smell stinking of fear. “So, what’s happened Martin? What has you so spooked?” Martin’s face crumpled, the stoic farmer’s eyes shimmering with unshed tears. Aaron frowned and took a step closer. This wasn’t like the Beta wolf at all. “What’s going on? I thought you said everything was fine.” Martin shook his head and one of the doors off the lounge room opened. Out stepped a man Aaron recognised. A dimple in his chin and a g*n in his right hand.
