3: Her Findings

KYRA POV “I love you so much, Tracey. What can I do without you?” I said, hugging her, and she reciprocated by hugging me back. We heard a loud hissing sound, and we quickly separated from the hug, looking up to see a glaring look of boring holes in our eyes. “I can't believe you only appreciated and hugged Tracey without doing so to me. Wow! Am I not your friend anymore? Daniel questioned jealousy. Tracey and I stared at ourselves and burst out laughing loud. “Aww, almighty Daniel is jealous, can't believe this,” I smirked, holding my mouth from laughing; I was not ready to die now. “What is so funny, and who told you I am jealous, huh? Not as if I need your dulcet words” Daniel rolled his eyes but pouted sadly, glaring at Tracey and me. “Why to keep a sad face when you said you don't need her soothing words” Tracey cupped his face like a baby and burst out laughing. “ I hate you both!!!” He yelled, glaring at the both of us as if he wanted to devour us. “Accept that you are jealous, and that's all. Not as if you are going to die,” I snapped and sat down on my seat, scrolling through my laptop. “Okay, ma'am, can I get my hug back?” Daniel pouted like a newborn baby. “As your Lordship pleases,” I replied and hugged him happily. He smiled and pecked my cheeks. “Gross,” Tracey groaned irritatedly, rolling her eyes. “Don't be a jealous bunny; she hugged you First.” “Why don't you keep your mouth shut and start your work? Mr. Jackson will kill you.” “Both of you are silly,” I smiled, staring at the both of them bantering words at each other. I couldn't help but smile; I love them so much, and they always find a means to make me happy. ***** We were exhausted after going through some Novels and editing outlines, it was indeed onerous, and right now, I am flabbergasted. The work was much, but now we are on break, and my joy knows no bounds. “I am frazzled and hungry. Jackson wants to kill us; who knows if he is a witch,” Tracey groaned in a brittle voice. “Don't cry, baby girl. We can pull through,” I whispered in her ears, laughing at her facial expressions. “Jackson doesn't know we are supposed to be giving an accolade for these millions of work we just did,” Daniel breathed heavily, and we both laughed out loud. “ Stop exaggerating, bunny; you did nothing. Jackson is so evil,” Tracey mouthed, rolling her eyes repeatedly. “ That eye is gonna fall off.” “Let's go to Amira restaurant; I am so famished,” I screamed, so they could stop their bickering and hear me out. “ Yippee” “ What are we waiting for? Let's start going,” Tracey voiced out impatiently. It seemed she was so hungry. We headed out excitedly and walked down. Amira restaurant is not far from The Gazette, so there is no need to board a cab. Within a few minutes, we got to the Restaurant. We found a space and sat down. “Good day, please place your order” A waiter came to attend to us, giving us their list, and we began placing our order. “ I need fries and apple juice,” I blurted out immediately. “ I need noodles and pineapple juice.” “ Same with me, I want noodles, too, and pineapple juice,” Daniel smirked, biting his lips. “ Okay, I will be right back,” The waiter said and left. “Must you order the same thing with me?” Tracey said, hitting Daniel's head. He winced in pain, glaring at her evilly. “My head, My food, My choice. You can't tell me what to do,” Daniel babbled, hitting Tracey's head. “ How dare you?” “We are in a restaurant; stop this fight. I am damn tired,” I whispered to them tiredly, and they stopped fighting but continued glaring at each other. “Here is your order” The waiter served us and left. We began devouring our food immediately. ******** Finally closed from work and headed home, but not without hugging my two besties and binding them goodbye. I boarded a cab that took me home safely. “Finally, you are here” Kenji's silvery voice welcomed me home as soon as I entered. “Thank God you are back home. Mom's mind will finally be at rest,” I responded, hugging him happily; that was when mom came in. “Kyra, you are back home; I hope everything went smoothly,” Mom assumed. My facial expression changed, and I sighed sadly. “I wish it did, but to be sincere, it ended in yelling, and I need to do something so that I won't get sacked,” I explained with tears dripping from my eyes, but I quickly cleaned it to avoid an overflow of tears from my mum and little brother. “Don't worry, big sis, it will be fine,” Kenji appealed, patting my back slowly. “ I wish I could help; I feel useless now,” mum muttered, hugging me sadly. “ Mum, don't say that; we all know you have diabetes, and you aren't supposed to do anything. You aren't useless but forever my best mom on Earth,” I pointed out and hugged her; Kenji joined in, making it a family hug. ***** Another scary day, My eyes stayed glued on my laptop, still researching and reading the best books to find out things to use to make my book outstanding and impressive to Mr. Jackson. Still, my book has numerous good features, yet Mr. Jackson will call it useless. I sighed sadly, got up from my bed, and peeped through Kenji's door. His room is closer to mine. “He is still sleeping by this time,” I muttered, going to my bathroom. The water runs, oozes, and brings calmness to my body. I came out from the bathroom, rubbed my lotion, and wore my faded jeans, turtle-neck top, and flat black shoe; then, I headed out, and a sweet smell welcomed me. “Good morning, Mom,” I said, hugging her from the back; she was cooking, so only her backside was available. “Good morning, baby; where is Kenji?” Mom questioned immediately, still frying the cheese. “ Still sleeping. Goodbye, Mom,” I said and pecked her, took some cheese, then left. “Good luck,” Mom yelled. I was already outside, about to board a cab. ****** I paid the cab man off and entered The ‘GAZETTE.’ I was simultaneously frightened, but I don't know why. “You are here. Good morning. Editor Alina calls for you” Tracey dropped the bombshell making my heart skip.
