Marcus fell asleep sitting up on his sofa, shoes still on, phone face down, a list half-typed in Notes: Fix the filings. Apologize without camera. Stop pretending. “Congratulations," someone said. He looked down and realized his hand was around Blair's wrist. “Marcus," Blair whispered. “Look." Men in masks. Guns. Shouts. Marcus grabbed for Blair automatically, pulling her behind him. “Stay down." One of the men pointed the gun at her and then at the crowd. “Everyone on the floor." She didn't move. She put her hands up because the gun required it, but she stayed standing. Blair clutched Marcus's sleeve. “They'll shoot." “Marcus!" Celeste called, voice even and impossible. He heard her over everything. The men dragged Celeste. Sirens grew from far to near. The men shoved Celeste out. “
