Oh, naive little Annabelle.
And Stella too, I would expect something more from the Leader.
She thought the new hair color would keep Annabelle from the danger in front of her.
Little Annabelle, you believe to wrong people. When you change all of thar, you may be worthy of your name.
But I think it will be too late by then, death is getting closer. The hunters are getting stronger. Tik-tok. The clock is counting.
"Magic began before Christ. So-called hunters persecuted witches with the intention of killing them. But then Anastazia Corran appeared, the only one who managed to defeat Him and received all of His powers. Since then she has been considered the originator of magic and witchcraft. "
“Rowling? she said. What have I done to her now?
"Yes, professor?" I replied and laughed innocently.
“What does Corran heiress look like? she asked. s**t!
"I don't really remember," I replied with a smile.
"Do you think it doesn't matter that you can forget it so easily? You must know that! Always! All of you. So how do we recognize the new Corran? If you meet her, poor girl. She won't even know what happened to her." she was yelling and while she was yelling and saying meaningless unrelated things she was interrupted by the door. Stella ..
“Henderson I need Annabelle Rowling urgently. Don't count on her for todays lectures."She said and looked at me. She saved me.
"Yes, ma'am," the professor replied, and I went out with Stella and laughed.
It’s weird actually that Stella is our leader right now until Corran shows up. She is some 36 years old girl and everyone addresses her as ‘madam’ and show her the deepest respect, be it younger or older than her. And then there is me. I defy her, I argue with her, I act like she’s my sister. And she allows me something like that. Guess I'm that special.
"Where are we going? “I ask her when I realize we’re heading to her car.
"I wrote you on a piece of paper, didn't you read it?" he asks and turns to me for a moment.
"I read. Although I don't understand why. "I replied, rolling my eyes.
"It's about your safety. Since I heard the professors question that you didn't know the answer to, I understand that you have no idea what I'm talking about." She said and took a deep breath. So when you put it that way ...
"Question? What question? "I raise my eyebrows in confusion.
"You've already forgotten. The appearance of Corran. She looks like you. Red hair and blue eyes. It is a rarity in witches. Only those with stronger powers look like that if they are not Corran. That's why we change everything to avoid confusion." She said, and I looked at her in shock." You're not Corran, don't worry. I did all the tests. It's true that you have a great percentage of power and that, but it has been proven that you are not ome of the Corrans. And now we must change your appearance so that you are not put in danger by mistake. " she added, and the only thing I heard was that I was not Corran and I felt better immediatly.
Okay, that’s a big honor, actually a huge one, but I’m not for it. I’m scandalous and would take everything as fun. And the heiress must not do that. She can't, she must be serious.
"Are you listening to me at all?" she asked, shaking me out of my thoughts. I shook my head and looked out the window.
“No.” I uttered when I got to the voice because she obviously didn’t see my shaking my head.
"The hunters set out to pursue us. You will have to fight them. But it’s time to throw yourself into learning because there won’t be anything of your amount of power if you don’t make an effort around the theory of magic. That's important, "she said, parking in front of a hair salon. I nodded and got out of the car. I still have to study. I don't have energy for it.
We went into the hair salon, and I smiled to the woman in her early thirties.
"How can I help you?" she asked and gave me a smile.
"I want to dye my hair. " I said and took a deep breath. I'm losing my hair and I really loved my hair.
"Sure, what color?" she asks, and goes for a bowl and a paintbrush. "Although if I may add, you have beautiful hair." I know.
"Thank you," I replied, and smiled.
“Then what color do you want?" she asked.
"Black," I said, and that's where our conversation ended. She dyed my hair, then dried it.
After she finished, I handed her the money and went to the car.
"And now the lenses," she said and looked at me.
"I won't change my eye color, there is no chance. I want my eyes to stay blue because I already ruined my hair. "I said angrily. I looked in the rearview mirror and saw a blue car behind us." Can we go for coffee somewhere? "I asked softly.
"We can, where?" she asked.
"Wherever you want." I replied and continued to look in the rearview mirror.
That blue car was still behind us, but I couldn't see who was driving. We turned a couple more streets and he was still following us. We went out in front of the cafe and went in, and sat down at one of the tables. The whole cafe was quiet. Quiet music was playing in the background, and white tables with red tablecloths surrounded by white chairs stretched through the cafe.
A polite waitress came up to us and we ordered coffee. I turned and saw the boy who is constantly looking at me. When he realized I was looking at him he put the newspaper over his face. A freak.
"Anna, I'm really sorry you ruined your hair, but it was for your own good," she said, looking down at her cup.
"It does not matter. I am also happy with my black hair. And call me Zoey. "I answered and put a smile on my face. Come on Stella trust me.
After about half an hour Stella paid for our coffees, and we headed back. That guy came out again right after us. We got in the car and when we got to the traffic light again the blue car was behind us.
Every street we turned into, he turned right behind us.
"Stella, don't panic, but this guy is following us," I told her.
"Are you sure?" She asked calmly. Well, I thought she was the girl who was going to panic over the little thing because when she lost her bracelet last week, she panicked.
"Yeah." I replied and looked behind us once more. It's still there.
"Put your seat belt," she said, and I looked at her in wonder. "I'm serious." she added. I put my seat belt and she started driving fast. "You see what it was about when I told you about safety," she said, and I looked in the rearview mirror again.
"You can slow down, he's gone," I told her.
The rest of the ride passed in silence. When we finally arrived in front of the castle, I came out without a word and came to the door. Hearing footsteps behind me, I turned and smiled.
"Thank you."
"No problem, Zoey." she replied with special emphasis on my name.
"I expected you to panic when I told you someone was following us. You know because of the last week. " I said with a provocative smile.
"That's what you meant because of the bracelet?" she asks, and I nod. "I'm a strong person and I don't panic, and the bracelet is Corran, so panic struck. Without that bracelet, Anastazia Corrans diary can't be opened." she explained.
"Yeah, I get it." I answer simply.
"And I thought I lost you on second word." she provokes, and I laugh along with her.
"I don't believe you're our leader." I answer. "You're acting like a five-year-old."
"The serious one is telling me." she bleaches, and I look at her in wonder. "Besides, I won't be a leader for long. The heiress will come." responds expertly.
"And how do you know that?" I ask interestedly. I honestly thought magic and witchcraft were boring, but it is getting interesting. Maybe I could even take a book to read.
"Because it's closer than you think. Not just you but everyone here." she speaks pointing to the castle and then enters. "If you're interested in anything, feel free to come to my office. I'll give you all the answers."
"Then let's go to your office right now. I'm interested in everything now." I speak and enter, then settle into a chair as she sits across from me.
"I feel like this is an interview. And I sincerely hope you remember everything because I won't wait while you write."
"Okay." I said. "We are starting. Since when does the Corran lineage exist?"
"Even before the new era or the time before Christ. The years are just speculation, but roughly said 1500 years before Christ." she said. Wow.
"Who did Anastasia kill?" in a hurry I said.
"The strongest hunter. No one found out his name. Then she gained power and no hunter could harm her. But witches are not immortal and she died a natural death. We know roughly who the hunters are and hopefully we can kill his successor." she responds somehow thoughtfully.
"Stella what is it?" I ask approaching her.
"You just don't get it. The death of his successor is important, moreover the most important. We may lose a large number of witches to make it happen. But if Corran kills him she will gain power, she will become too strong. No hunter will be able to harm her." she responds in disgust.
"Is that so scary?"
"I think it is. Imagine. You're losing your witches because you failed to protect them at that moment, and you know they can't hurt you. So they'll try to eradicate witches in every way." she murmurs, a tear sliding down her cheeks. How do people comfort others? Actually witches?
"You saw that?" I speak softly.
"You don't have to be either an heiress or a leader to see it. Persecution is the worst. All those ways that witches suffer. We may be superior creatures, but we don't deserve that kind of suffering."
"What are those ways?" I ask already scared.
"Burning at the stake, stretching the body, halving the body, beheading and much more. But it all ends up the same, in the end they have to burn us because we are witches. Why can't they just put us to sleep with pills and burn us? We're going to die effortlessly, and to them one witch less. Even when we lose a witch we burn her to turn to dust, you already know the ritual. And the Corran lineage itself turns into a shiny black powder. " explains.
"What percentage of power do heiresses have, and what percentage do ordinary witches have?"
"Anastazia was 105, and after she killed the hunter 400. The heiresses are mostly from 95 onwards. Ordinary witches are about 80. But with that, the percentage can be increased by practice and mastering magic." answers counting
"What's my percentage?" I ask quietly.
"113." wow.
"What about the diary?" I ask recalling our conversation in front of the castle.
"That diary is old and opens with a hand with a bracelet over it. It has everything the heiress needs to know. There is often confusion and hunters want that diary terribly. But if they opened it, they would only see blank papers." she said. "Even ordinary witches don't see anything. Anastazia put spells on it that only her heiresses could read. And now I think that's enough informations for today. Go rest your head." she added.
"Stella just one more question." I beg her, and when she nodded I asked the question. "Why did you say the heiress is closer than we think and that you know she'll be here soon?"
"Leaders have a feeling before they die."
