“Why would they want to go through Indian land on this particular run?” asked Paul.
Golden Hawk glanced at Boulder before answering. His response was directed to the others at the table, while continuing to ignore Paul.
“They always like coming through our land because they know federal authorities need special permission to enter our territory,” said Golden Hawk. “The Path people figure if they’re discovered, they can run into Indian land and the Feds won’t follow. Think they’re safer dealing with us than with the Feds. Tomorrow they’re gonna find out they’re wrong.”
“What’s with the circles?” asked Boulder.
“We’re posting two men at each of these positions,” said Golden Hawk. “We’re gonna catch the bastards before they reach the rendezvous point. That way they won’t be expecting us.
