The antiseptic smell lingered as tension thickened in the Moondance Pack Hospital. Lila and Gabriel stood in the dimly lit hallway, their expressions taut with concern. Melody and Frederik sat nearby, coloring in their books. The distant sounds of hurried footsteps and soft murmurs echoed through the hallways. In the birthing room, Solstace held Crimson’s hand through each wave of pain. Dr. Nina moved efficiently, nurses flitting in and out with supplies and encouragement. The door creaked open, and Amara and Eliza, the pack’s witches, entered with glowing eyes, sensing the unborn child’s unique magic. Lila looked at Gabriel, her eyes wide with fear and hope. “Will everything be okay?” she whispered, her voice trembling. Gabriel stepped closer and squeezed her hand, his grip firm yet gentle. “Crimson and the baby are strong. Dr. Nina and the witches will take care of everything.” A worried look passed between them. Crimson was only five months pregnant, far too early. Inside, Crimson moaned with another contraction. Solstace wiped her forehead, whispering comfort. Dr. Nina frowned at the monitors. “This is too soon,” Dr. Nina muttered, concern in her voice. “We need to be ready for anything.” Amara and Eliza raised their hands, chanting softly. Magic shimmered, creating a protective barrier around Crimson. “We’re getting close,” Dr. Nina announced. “Prepare for delivery.” Energy surged as the baby’s arrival neared. Crimson’s cries mixed with the witches’ chants, creating a haunting symphony. As Crimson pushed, the baby emerged encased in a thick, strong caul. Dr. Nina’s attempts to open it were futile. “We need help,” she called out urgently. “Amara, Eliza, it’s not breaking!” The witches stepped forward, chanting louder, focusing their magic on the caul. The air thickened with power. With a final chant, the caul glowed and dissolved, revealing a baby dragon with glistening scales and a soft, warm light. The room fell silent as everyone stared in awe at the newborn dragon. Solstace, tears streaming, gently lifted the baby to Crimson. The tiny dragon let out a soft coo, its eyes blinking open to reveal an otherworldly intelligence. Solstace leaned in, kissing Crimson’s forehead. “You did it, my love. Our baby is perfect.” “And she’s a dragon,” Crimson panted. Dr. Nina emerged, glowing with joy. “Crimson and the baby are healthy. It’s a beautiful baby dragon.” Gabriel and Lila exchanged elated looks and hugged tightly, sharing the news. “Crimson and the baby are doing well. Want to meet your newest pack member?” Dr Nina asked. Gabriel nodded, his eyes shining with pride. “Of course. Let’s all go together.” Lila’s eyes sparkled with joyful tears. “The children should see this. It’s unforgettable.” Frederik and Melody, holding hands, followed Gabriel and Lila as they made their way to the birthing room. The sense of anticipation and excitement grew with each step. The group met with a magical sight when entering the room. Crimson, exhausted but radiant, held the newborn dragon. Solstace stood beside them, eyes filled with love and pride. The baby dragon’s tiny scales glistened in the soft light, her wise eyes blinking at the newcomers. Melody gasped, tears welling up. “Beautiful,” she whispered, choked with emotion. Frederik squeezed her hand, his eyes moist. “Pretty.” Gabriel stepped forward, tenderly looking at the newborn. “Welcome to the world, little one,” he murmured. “You are a blessing.” Lila leaned in, her face radiant with joy. “Crimson, Solstace, she’s perfect. Congratulations.” Frederik shuffled closer, his blanket dragging, eyes wide with a small ‘o’ of surprise. Crimson, still weak from the ordeal, managed a tired smile. “Meet your baby sister, Clover,” she said, her voice soft but proud. Melody, still clutching her mother’s hand, took another step forward. “Can I touch her?” she asked, her voice a mix of eagerness and trepidation. Crimson nodded, her smile gentle. “Of course, Melody.” Melody touched the dragon’s warm, smooth scales, pulsing with faint light. The dragonlet regarded Melody with bright, curious eyes. For a moment, they simply stared, a silent bond forming. Emboldened, Frederik shuffled closer and gently patted the dragon’s head. The dragonlet trilled, almost like a purr, and nuzzled his hand. “She likes her big brother,” Crimson spoke warmly. “She likes both of you.” The scene was pure magic, frozen when the extraordinary became normal. The pack members, united in awe and joy, murmured blessings and congratulations. # Crimson, five months pregnant, woke up Solstace urgently. “The baby is coming,” she said, her hand on her belly. Solstace’s eyes widened. They were expecting a dragon, a significant event for their family and the Moondance Pack. Solstace quickly informed Dr. Nina, Eliza, and Amara, urging them to the hospital. Swiftly, Solstace gathered Frederik and Clover, ushering them to Lila and Gabriel’s quarters. Lila and Gabriel greeted them warmly, understanding in their eyes. “We’ll bring the children later,” Lila assured. “Go now, and may everything go smoothly.” In the Moondance Pack hospital, a cozy clearing nestled in their territory. Sunlight filtered through the trees, casting a golden glow on the grass. It was a place of healing and new beginnings, filled with anticipation. Crimson lay in the birthing room, surrounded by midwives and healers. Her face showed pain and determination, beads of sweat glistening. Despite the intensity, there was a calm familiarity; the pack had awaited miracles. Crimson groaned as another contraction seized her. The midwives murmured encouragement, their hands steady. The air was charged with expectation, each second stretching into minutes. “Almost there, Crimson,” one of the healers said softly, her voice comforting. “You’re doing wonderfully.” Crimson’s labor peaked, and with a final, decisive push, a brilliant light filled the clearing. Everyone shielded their eyes as the light enveloped Crimson and her newborn. When it faded, a collective gasp echoed. Another tiny dragon with gold and silver patterns on her scales lay in Crimson’s arms. The newborn dragon uttered a tiny roar, commanding even at this tender age. “She’s beautiful,” one of the midwives breathed, tears of joy in her eyes. Gabriel, Lila, Melody, and Frederik had arrived at the hospital by then. Despite her exhaustion, Crimson smiled and nodded. “Come closer, Melody. Meet your new sister.” Melody approached carefully, touching the dragon’s warm, smooth scales, pulsating with faint magic. The dragonlet turned her head, looking at Melody with bright, curious eyes, a silent connection forming. Frederik, emboldened by Melody, took a hesitant step forward. “Can I touch her too?” “Of course, Frederik,” Crimson said, her voice gentle. Frederik gently patted the dragon’s head. The dragonlet trilled softly, almost purring, and nuzzled his hand. The bond between the siblings glowed brighter with each moment. “She’s so strong,” Melody murmured, awed. “Just like Solstace and Clover.” Crimson’s eyes sparkled with pride and love. “Yes, she is.” Dr. Nina, Eliza, and Amara stepped back to allow the family privacy. “This is truly a miracle,” Lila said reverently. “Our pack grows stronger with each birth.” “These dragon daughters signify the great power and protection around us. The Moondance Pack is blessed beyond measure,” Gabriel added. Melody, mesmerized by the newborn, turned to her mother. “What will you call her?” Crimson smiled, looking at the tiny dragon. “I think we should call her Ivy.” “Ivy,” Melody repeated, a smile spreading across her face. “Welcome to the pack.” Frederik echoed his friend’s words, his voice filled with childlike wonder. “Welcome, Ivy.” The dragonlet, as if understanding her name, let out another tiny roar, her scales shimmering brighter in the sunlight. The pack members cheered, their voices rising in a harmonious chorus that filled the clearing with a sense of unity and joy. Crimson looked at her children with a deep sense of peace. Their bond was undeniable, a connection that would only grow stronger with time. The presence of two dragon daughters now hinted at the increasing strength and significance of the Moondance Pack, a lineage filled with magic and power. # Time passed quickly. Ivy was 18 months old and had been in her human form since she was two months old. Clover was now 3.5 years old and started shifting from dragon to her human form at three years old. Frederik was about 5.5 years old and had never shifted or shown signs of being a dragon. The three were sleeping peacefully in the nursery. Crimson woke Solstace at dawn, her voice urgent. “Solstace, the baby is coming. We don’t have time to get to the hospital.” Solstace quickly called Dr. Nina, Eliza, and Amara, urging them to hurry. Then, he turned to Crimson. “I’ll draw you a bath,” he said, staying calm despite the urgency. As Solstace prepared the bath, Crimson’s contractions intensified. By the time the water was ready, Dr. Nina, Eliza, and Amara had arrived, serious but composed. They quickly guided Crimson into the warm water. “Just breathe, Crimson,” Dr. Nina instructed gently. “You’re doing great.” Crimson gripped the edge of the tub, her body wracked with another contraction. Eliza and Amara stood on either side, their hands glowing with soft magic, ready to assist. Frederik, Clover, and Ivy watched from the doorway, their eyes wide. “Mama, okay?” Clover whispered, clutching Frederik’s hand. “She’ll be fine,” Solstace reassured them, though his worry was evident. “Just watch and see.” Crimson’s breathing grew labored, her face contorted with pain. “I can see the head,” Dr. Nina announced. “One more push.” Crimson pushed with a final, powerful effort, and a brilliant light filled the room. As the light faded, the newborn dragonlet emerged, encased in a delicate caul. Eliza and Amara used their magic to remove the caul, revealing the tiny dragon within. Frederik, Clover, and Ivy edged closer, awe and curiosity in their eyes. The dragonlet’s blue scales shimmered with silver streaks. She let out a tiny roar, her eyes bright and alert. “She’s beautiful,” Amara said, tears of joy in her eyes. “A true miracle.” Exhausted but beaming with pride, Crimson cradled the dragonlet in her arms. “Welcome to the world, little one,” she whispered, her eyes shining with love. Frederik and Clover approached cautiously, their eyes wide with wonder. “What’s her name, Mama?” Frederik asked, his voice soft. Crimson looked down at the dragonlet, her heart swelling with love. “Guinevere,” she said softly. “Our celestial gift.” Ivy reached out a tentative hand, gently touching Guinevere’s scales. The dragonlet let out a contented sigh, nestling closer to Crimson. “She likes us,” Ivy said, her voice filled with delight. The family gathered around Crimson and Guinevere as the sun began to rise, casting a warm glow over the clearing. The air was filled with a sense of magic and wonder, the birth of the dragonlet marking a new chapter for the Moondance Pack. Dr. Nina, Eliza, and Amara shared looks of satisfaction and relief; their work was done for now. “The Moondance Pack is truly blessed,” Dr. Nina said, her voice filled with emotion. “Guinevere is a powerful addition to our family.” The children nodded in agreement, their faces reflecting the joy and awe of the moment. The bond between them, forged in this magical moment, was solid and unbreakable. As the day continued, pack members began to visit. Gabriel, Lila, and Melody were the first to come by. “Do you want to meet the new baby, Melody?” Crimson asked. “Yes,” Melody said, walking over to Crimson in bed and cradling the baby. “Another dragon?” Melody asked, surprised. Then she looked over to see Frederik coo over his sister. Melody, in all her naivety, asked bluntly. “Why is Frederik the only one that is not a dragon?” The adults all tensed since it was a topic they didn’t discuss. The dragon legacy could only be assured by male dragons. Everyone hoped that Frederic would eventually show signs of being a dragon, but it had yet to happen. “Every child is unique,” Crimson started. “We will eventually find out Frederik’s secret,” Lila added, sharing a knowing glance with Crimson.
