Chapter Fourteen “Hey, boss,” Cady said. “Thought I’d stop in and see if you need anything or if you need me to pick up a shift, anything I can do to help out.” Jeremy looked up from where he stood behind the front counter and the pile of papers from all the orders that had come in. It was a paper nightmare, and he was determined to have a sit-down with Dorothy again when she got back about streamlining everything on a computer. There was Cady, her dark hair hiked in a ponytail. Her dark-rimmed glasses kept slipping down her slender nose, and she continually pushed them back up to the bridge. She was a little on the plump side and wore an unflattering baggy T-shirt, but there it was: the smile he’d thought nothing of before. “Ah, no, but thanks. Ruth’s here, and it’s been pretty slow,”
