Chapter 8 : Rockstar

Present 

“Ma’am?” Linda patted my shoulder and made me escape from my thoughts.

I looked at her and said “Yeah!”

“I brought magazines for you ma’am.” 

She gave me a bundle of magazines. 

“Thank you Linda.” 

She strolled to her seat and sat. I started reading them one after another. My eyes became teary when I saw Daniel’s picture on the magazine with headline ‘The Youth’s Rockstar’. I threw the magazine in anger and sat silent for a minute. I looked at his picture again and asked 

“Why Danie? The more I’m trying to deviate myself from you, the more you are disturbing me. Why? I don’t want you Danie.” 

I tried not to think about him. But every memory is filled with him and now I couldn’t stop thinking about him. 

Past

With every meet, my interest and feelings towards Daniel increased. I started going to his place to talk to him, see him and see them practicing. We became good friends in a short period of time. 

I was in MGI and was doing my works. MGI models is the modelling place where I trained and doing my modelling works. 

“Jennie ma'am! little erect position. Sharp look, smile a bit. Hand on waist Jennie. Perfect!” The photographer instructed me. 

I did like he said. As Mark was busy with some other works, I started working with another photographer. After few minutes, Mark came and sat on the chair beside the photographer. He kept watching and instructing both of us. 

“Perfect Jennie ma'am. It’s perfect. You can take rest now. I’ll call after few minutes.” 

I went to my cabin and sat on the chair. I relaxed a bit and I heard someone knocking the door and I told him to come in. 

“Jennie ma'am somebody is waiting for you outside. He said his name is Daniel. Should I allow him to meet you?” The security chief asked . 

“Yeah! Send him here.” 

Daniel is here? For me? Why did he come? Did he wish to meet me or anything else? Several thoughts revolved in my mind with in no time . My thoughts were interrupted with his voice. 

“Hey Jennie?!” I saw him and said “Come in Danie.” 

He came in and sat on the chair in front of me.

“Hey Daniel! What are you doing here?” 

“I wanted to meet you. I came to tell you some good news.”

I narrowed my eyebrows and looked at him with question mark face.

“Tomorrow at 9pm is my debut album.” 

“Wow! That’s fantastic. All the very best.” I shouted in excitement.

“Thank you. And I’m not asking you to come because I know that you are coming.” He grinned.

“Danie... I can't be sure of my presence there. I scheduled my photoshoot tomorrow. I postponed it many times and I can’t do it tomorrow as they have to send pictures to ad agencies say after tomorrow. And then my new ad works begin.” 

“What? No. You have to come Jennie. I want you to stand beside me at that precious moment. This is my debut album. I wish to perform my debut infront of you.”

“Danie I understand but...”

“Fine! I can't force you. You may have your work. I'll change the schedule of my album then.”

“What? No. Daniel you can't do that. changing the schedule of concert is a stupid thing. You will have to face many problems if you do.” 

“I don't have any option rather than this.”

“Don't change it Daniel. If you change you may lose the audience first impression.”

“Then make sure of your arrival Jennie.”

“Please understand Daniel. This is your life. Your chance. Your dream. Your world. Do you think you can sacrifice your dream just for a girl? But trust me , I'll try to finish my work before your concert starts. Hope for the best.”

“You are right. I can't sacrifice my dream. But...” 

“Don't think too much. Just concentrate on your success. Good luck.” 

After that, he left the cabin. I finished my works and went to house. I spent half of the night thinking about his debut album. I decided to finish all my works before his concert time. Then I slept. 

The next morning, I reached MGI and greeted Mark.

“Hey Mark!” 

“Hey Jennie! I’m waiting for you. One minute. They are setting everything.”

“Mark I have to ask you something.” 

“Yeah! Go ahead.” He said while looking at his camera. 

“Mark! Can we finish our work before 7pm.”

He looked at me and said

“Before 7? Impossible.” He laughed. 

“Let’s try.” I said. 

“Jennie it's impossible. If you want to finish the work before 7 you must be active for your photoshoot continuously for 8 hours.”

“Starts at 10... ends at 7. We have 9 hours.” I blabbered. “We can do Mark. I’ll be active and you can switch the photographers if they feel tired and need rest.” 

“What's your calculation? I can't understand.”

“Start it Mark."

I started doing my work. I’ve been doing it for the past 4 hours without any break. Now they asked me to take rest as they need to do some background thing. 

“Jennie! Would you like to have some coffee?” Mark asked . 

“No Mark I am fine "

“Atleast have this juice. It takes 10 minutes for them to arrange the background set.”

“Thanks Mark.”

“So from tomorrow, your new ad works starts.”

“Yes Mark. It takes about a month to complete.”

“Why are you struggling so hard to complete before 7?” 

“At 9, Daniel's debut concert. I want to go there. So...”

“Daniel Eric?”

“Do you know him?”

“Of course no. I just heard about him on insta pages. Nice singer.” 

“He is my friend. So I’m thinking to go there.”

“Your friend?"

“Yeah! I met him few days back and we became friends.” I smiled. 

"Just because of few days meet you are struggling this much for him? Anyway All the best to your friend from my side.”

I neither had my breakfast nor lunch. Atleast some snacks? Nope. Except this half tumbler juice. I am working so much that I never did like this before. I’m a lazy girl. Why am I so serious about that concert? Daniel invited me. Is this the reason? Or my intention is to go and see Daniel. I am confused.

“Jennie? What are you thinking?” Mark interrupted my thoughts

“Nothing Mark! Let’s continue our work.”

We resumed our work and to my surprise, everyone worked actively. Luck is in my favour. I’ve finished my work and noticed the time as 6:45. Wow! I’ve completed it before 7.

“It's only 6:45 and you completed your photoshoot.” Mark shouted shockingly.

“Wow I have 2 hours. But it takes minimum one and half an hour to reach the place. It's time to go. Bye mark.”

“Wait! Fresh up first, eat something and then go. You have 15 minutes more.” He laughed. I ate some snacks and started. 

This traffic! s**t! Hate this traffic. It’s 8:20 still many miles. Within 40 minutes, I’ve to be there. Cool Jennie!

After the horrible drive in traffic, I reached the place. It’s a concert hall outside the city. I took my mobile and saw thirty missed calls from Daniel. I didn't notice it as my phone was in silent mode. I ran fast towards the room which is set for Daniel for about some distance behind the stage. 

“Hey Jennie! Finally you are here. You don’t know for how long we’ve been waiting for you.” Matthew said. 

“Daniel... Where is Daniel?”

“On the way to the stage.”

I ran from there and stood beside the stage.

He held the mic but didn't start. His sharp eyes were searching for me. With in no time the eyes strike me and I conveyed 'All the best' with a bright smile. 

“Hey guys! Are you ready to rock?” He started his ‘STRUGGLE’ album.

Within few minutes, the audience kept increased and filled the gallery totally . 

Daniel's rocking voice, his way of playing guitar and other instruments by the band kept the audience in a full swing and they lose themselves totally in that voice. From then, he became a rockstar of New York.
