The truth revealed

EMILY I sat in stunned silence, my mind reeling with the implications of what Jasmine had just told me. Could it be true? Was Ashton really lying to me? I thought back to all the times we had spent together, all the conversations we had had. Had he been deceiving me the whole time? I looked at Jasmine, who was watching me with a mixture of concern and curiosity. "How do I know you're telling the truth?" I asked, my voice shaking slightly. Jasmine smiled and pulled out a folder from her bag. "I have proof," she said, handing me the folder. I took the folder and opened it, my heart racing with anticipation. Inside, I found a series of documents and photographs that seemed to confirm everything Jasmine had told me. I felt like I had been punched in the gut. It was all true. Ashton had been lying to me. I looked up at Jasmine, who was watching me with a sympathetic expression. "I'm sorry, Emily," she said. "I know this must be hard for you to hear." I nodded, feeling a lump form in my throat. I didn't know what to say or do. I just felt numb and confused. Jasmine reached out and put a hand on my shoulder. "You deserve to know the truth," she said. "And you deserve better than someone who lies to you." I nodded, feeling a surge of gratitude towards Jasmine. She had told me the truth, even though it was hard to hear. But as I looked at the documents and photographs in the folder, I couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. What else was Ashton hiding from me? And what would happen now that I knew the truth? I sat in stunned silence, my mind reeling with the implications of what I had just learned. Ashton, the guy I thought I knew, was a liar. He had been deceiving me from the very beginning. I felt a wave of emotions wash over me - anger, sadness, betrayal. How could he do this to me? Why had he lied to me? I looked up at Jasmine, who was watching me with a concerned expression. "What do I do now?" I asked, feeling lost and unsure. Jasmine hesitated for a moment before speaking. "That's up to you, Emily," she said. "But I think you deserve better than someone who lies to you. You deserve someone who is honest and trustworthy." I nodded, feeling a sense of determination wash over me. Jasmine was right. I did deserve better. I stood up, feeling a sense of resolve. "I need to talk to Ashton," I said, my voice firm. Jasmine nodded. "I'll go with you," she said. "For support." I nodded, feeling grateful for Jasmine's support. Together, we walked out of the dorm and headed towards Ashton's apartment. As we walked, I couldn't help but feel a sense of nervousness. What would Ashton say when I confronted him? Would he deny everything, or would he finally tell me the truth? We arrived at Ashton's apartment, and I took a deep breath before knocking on the door. The door opened, and Ashton stood before me, a look of surprise on his face. "Emily, what's going on?" he asked. I took a deep breath, my heart pounding in my chest. "We need to talk," I said, my voice firm. Ashton's expression changed, and he looked at me with a mixture of concern and guilt. "What's going on, Emily?" he asked again. I took another deep breath, my heart pounding in my chest. "I know the truth," I said, my voice firm. "I know you've been lying to me." Ashton's face went white, and he looked at me with a mixture of shock and fear. "Emily, I..." he started to say. But I cut him off. "Don't lie to me again, Ashton," I said, my voice firm. "Just tell me the truth." Ashton hesitated for a moment, and then he nodded. "Okay," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. "I'll tell you the truth." Ashton took a deep breath and began to speak. "I'm not who you think I am," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. "My name is not even Ashton. It's...it's something else." I felt like I had been punched in the gut. What was Ashton talking about? Who was he really? "What do you mean?" I asked, my voice shaking slightly. Ashton hesitated for a moment before speaking. "I'm in witness protection," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. "I've been living in hiding for years. My real name is not Ashton, it's...it's Alexander." I felt like I was in a dream. Witness protection? Alexander? What was going on? "Why didn't you tell me?" I asked, my voice shaking with emotion. Ashton looked at me with tears in his eyes. "I was afraid," he said. "I was afraid of losing you. I was afraid that if you knew the truth, you would leave me." I felt a wave of emotions wash over me. I was angry, hurt, and confused. But at the same time, I felt a deep sadness for Ashton. He had been living in fear for so long, and he had been forced to keep his true identity a secret. "What happens now?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper. Ashton looked at me with a mixture of hope and fear in his eyes. "I don't know," he said. "I don't know if you'll still want to be with me now that you know the truth." I looked at Ashton, and I saw the fear and uncertainty in his eyes. I knew that I had to make a decision, and I had to make it now. I took a deep breath and looked at Ashton. I could see the fear and uncertainty in his eyes, and I knew that I had to make a decision. "Ashton," I said, my voice soft and gentle. "I don't know what to say. I'm still trying to process everything." Ashton nodded, his eyes never leaving mine. "I understand," he said. "I just want you to know that I love you, Emily. And I'm sorry for lying to you." I felt a pang of sadness and regret. I had fallen in love with Ashton, but now I wasn't sure if I could trust him. "I need some time to think," I said, my voice barely above a whisper. Ashton nodded, his eyes filling with tears. "I understand," he said. "Take all the time you need, Emily. I'll be here, waiting for you." I nodded, feeling a sense of uncertainty and confusion. I didn't know what to do or what to think. All I knew was that I needed some time to process everything. I turned and walked away, leaving Ashton standing alone in his apartment. I didn't know what the future held, but I knew that I had to take some time to figure things out. As I walked back to my dorm, I couldn't help but feel a sense of sadness and regret. I had fallen in love with Ashton, but now I wasn't sure if I could trust him. I walked into my dorm room, feeling lost and alone. I didn't know what to do or what to think. All I knew was that I needed some time to process everything. As I sat down on my bed, I heard a knock at the door. It was Jasmine. "Hey, Emily," she said, her voice soft and gentle. "I just wanted to check in on you. How are you doing?" I shrugged, feeling a sense of uncertainty and confusion. "I don't know," I said. "I'm still trying to process everything." Jasmine nodded, her eyes filled with understanding. "I know it's a lot to take in," she said. "But you deserve to know the truth. And you deserve to be happy." I nodded, feeling a sense of gratitude towards Jasmine. She had told me the truth, even though it was hard to hear. "Thanks, Jasmine," I said, my voice soft and gentle. "I appreciate your honesty." Jasmine smiled, her eyes sparkling with kindness. "Anytime, Emily," she said. "I'm always here for you."
