MACKENZIE “Wait, lemme get this straight, right?” I crooked my head at the Alpha trying to assimilate what he was saying. “You mean, my boss, dragged you from your pack after massacring your people and brought you here against your will?” I asked feeling blood rush to my head. My breath was faltering, but trying to keep it steady was a waste of time owing to the way the Alpha stared at me. I had to keep it together so I could know enough. It wasn’t pity or disbelief that was in his eyes as I had expected; it was scrutiny, then understanding. “So,” I blurted out, swallowing hard. “How did they find your pack, how did they see you guys?” I questioned, confused as I paced in front of him unable to stay still while he was perfectly calm and still as though he wasn’t the one those things
