GAMMA FERDINAND
Our Beta, Ian had betrayed our pack and sent our Alpha out to die.
He killed everyone that rebelled against him that instant desecrating out ritual hall and locked some of us who were strong in the dungeon.
He kept us here because he knew we were of great importance to the pack and he couldn’t run the pack without us; still he also knew we were extremely loyal to Alpha Heller.
I'm sure he was thinking of what to do with us but one of the ranked wolf with me here said he overheard Ian telling one of the masked men that stayed behind after massacring our people that he wanted to torture us till we had no other choice but to be loyal to him.
But I would rather die.
I'll rather be killed than be loyal to headless traitor!
He knew better anyways, wolves cannot be caged, no matter how long he believed he could keep us here.
He knew that his days were numbered, besides, I was really worried about the Alpha; not knowing his whereabouts and the state he was in wherever he was being kept, made me restless.
So I suggested to my other comrades to volunteer myself to go search for our Alpha.
The Blue Moon pack's hierarchy was based on strength and wisdom so none of us here could fight against Ian as he was the second in command, and also considering the fact that he has the protection of those huge humans following him around.
I was, as a Gamma, just a rank below him but it made a lot of difference.
Only the Alpha could defeat both him and his masked hounds, salvage and save what was left of our pack from the looming destruction that was about to befall us completely.
Therefore, our top most priority was saving the Alpha to restore back the glory of the Blue Moon pack.
I knew the Alpha’s scent like the back of my palms, so looking for him would not be hard. All I had to do was shift to my wolf form, Farr and locate my Alpha with his smell.
I hoped with all my heart he stays alive long enough for me to get to where he was.
We finally agreed on a plan by mind-linking ourselves so that the masked men outside guarding the dungeon wouldn’t hear what we were saying. No matter how much power they may delude themselves into thinking they had, they were still mere weak humans.
The plan was helping me sneak out of the dungeon without Ian knowing that any of us had left so when I succeed in rescuing the Alpha and come back with him, we could catch Ian off guard.
We went to work by noiselessly widening the iron bars with our bare hands in the cage we were in, to make it wide enough for me to sneak out. The part we were working on was at the extreme end of the dungeon, it led into the deep forest which was a good thing because I would be miles away before they discover anyone of us was missing even though the plan was making sure they were oblivious of that.
But anything could happen, we have been trained to always be prepared for the worst.
We took turns widening the iron bars while the others distracted the masked men by bantering noisily but not obvious so we could do our jobs successfully.
By sunset, we were done with the gate but had to wait for the day to be completely dark before sneaking out.
Soon, night fell on us as it was time, I bided my comrades a farewell and sneaked out quietly while they covered me and pushed the iron bars back to its initial size.
I shifted into my wolf form, Farr as soon as I stepped out into the forest and broke into a run, through the forest.
"Farr," I called my wolf in my mind.
He grunted in response.
"We have to find our Alpha" I reminded him even though I didn't need to. He instinctively recognized the Alpha's smell in our head and increased his pace, running like the world was on fire.
We ran for hours still towards where his smell was leading us and it felt like it was beginning to take forever to get to him.
We ascended and descended mountains, ran through seas till we got to a place that looked like a desert. It actually was a desert. There was sand everywhere and a vast space of endlessness without a single sign of life.
Alpha Heller's smell got stronger which meant we were closer. My wolf, who was starting to get wary felt motivated as soon as he noticed the smell got stronger.
We followed the smell till we got stopped by a looming gate. It was extremely tall and the width was so far, I couldn't see the end of the walls connected to it.
The Alpha was being kept in here but for what purpose? I wondered. If those men really meant to kill him, they would have done that already when the invasion happened.
Why they were keeping him here was an issue I could not wrap my head around. Either way, I was not leaving here till I find him and get him out safely, I concluded in my mind
There ought to be another way around here, so Farr and I began to look for a way in.

LEYNA
I made for the library built in this place, promising myself never to leave till I found answers.
There should definitely be books, history books or journals or something that would explain the chemistry or whatever was happening between that man-wolf and Doc.
It was getting out of hands and if I didn't do something like having an idea of what the situation was about first, I had a hunch that it was going to ruin things for us, including my relationship with Doc; not the current one but the relationship I've been dreaming to have with him for the past five years.
So before I could take any step, I needed answers.
Like why that man-wolf growled that way when he saw Doc and called him "Mine" in such a possessive manner and why Doc reacted that way as if he had lost every ounce of self-restraints in him.
He even told me, his most trusted friend and colleague of seven years to excuse him so he could speak privately with a complete stranger he just met yesterday. A stranger that could easily tear him apart in a heartbeat.
Dr. Mackenzie has never been that way. Not in the seven long years I've been with him.
His brother's death made him shut the world out emotionally and it felt as though he was incapable of recognizing love when it was right under his nose.
I've loved him for five years while sticking with him as an assistant even though I never really needed the job.
It had always been my dream to work with him after reading about his numerous outstanding achievements and inventions despite his young age.
Now he was acting strange and weird in a way that he who consistently preached out level headedness and keeping one's emotions in check couldn't keep his.
I got to the library with the help of the compass I had with me when I got here. Doc gave me the compass so I wouldn't miss my way around the endless labyrinth of hallways in this old City building.
Thankfully, Mr. Bill and his men had made things easier for us by getting here first, not that it made me detest him lesser.
I pushed the old wooden door of the library and went inside. A soft gasp escaped my throat as soon as I stepped inside.
The ceiling was so tall, it looked like it was in the clouds. Sturdy wooden shelves as high as the ceiling filled with old, hard cover and large books.
I walked straight to the Liberian as I didn't know where to start looking for the information I needed from, I understood I was going to need advice from an expert.
The supposed master of the library was sitting behind a towering desk almost hiding him from view of people coming in.
He looked old about eighty or above and was deeply sucked into a book he was reading using a magnifying glass by moving the glass from one part of the book to another. He was completely oblivious of my presence and I could steal a book without him knowing.
I cleared my throat loudly hoping to somehow arrest his attention, wondering how people greet themselves in this era; I was too busy with other things back in the future to look that up.
"What do you want" he asked with a grump strong German accent not bothering to raise his head to know who was standing before him.
I loathed his bald head and audacity instantly. I hated everything, here, come to think of it.
"I need a book on werewolves’ history and general lifestyle." I responded, hoping the irritation I was feeling at the moment wasn't obvious from the sound of my voice.
"Over there" he pointed with his hands to the far left side behind him, still not raising his head. He was obviously not concerned about me or who I am or why I was even here looking for werewolves history.
I swallowed a snappish statement I would have sent at him if we were in the future. Fumes as well as disappointment slapped me in the face.
I was thinking I could have a more detailed conversation on werewolves from whoever I would be meeting in the library. UNFORTUNATELY...
All the people we met here were fascinated by us but here's this old grumpy hag acting like I wasn't here in the first place.
I snorted and walked towards the direction he pointed.
Few minutes later, I was holding giant a werewolf history book. The cover of the book alone was heavy, I realized it was impossible to carry it around so I dropped it on the floor and began my search.
The book was so old I could hardly make out what was written. It was written in German but thankfully, there was English translation at the side of each old and almost worn out page.
I quickly scanned the table of contents and stopped when I got to the "Wolf Mate" topic.
I curiously opened that part and started reading the translated part.
I didn't know how long I had spent till I heard the door of the Library open.
My mouth was agape at what I saw in the book. I willed it to be wrong, willed it to just be a mere folklore or myth or legend, to be anything but true.
With the analysis and explanation I got from this book, it is almost a hundred percent possible that Doctor Mackenzie and the Man-wolf were fated mates.
FATED MATES?!
What the hell!
I gulped hard, feeling my breath become more labored with apprehension.
Doc Mackenzie was being sincere because according to what I was seeing, the mate pull could almost not be controlled.
How the hell did this happen?
Why does it have to be this Man-wolf? Doc has never been interested in men.
Is this what I get from following him for seven years?
I had find a way to stop this mate pull and mate bond thing. I don't believe in fate; we humans make our own decisions and get the consequences for them.
First, Doctor Mackenzie needs to know about this.
