CHAPTER FORTY-ONE The sun is hanging low in the sky by the time Kyle and I reach the cliff, painting the horizon in strokes of deep orange and purple. He carries a wicker picnic basket, the contents hidden by a red-checkered cloth fluttering slightly in the evening breeze. I can't help the flutter in my stomach that matches the cloth's dance as Kyle sets the basket down at our special place, at the very edge of the cliff where land meets the vast expanse of sky.
