Awakening

[ monsieur Dave]: Ah ah! This early morning!? What did you do?

I knew I couldn't keep shut while he asked me those questions so as to not create another bad impression and I also didn't know how to explain, I mean, how do you tell an elder you insulted his colleague.

And for someone like Monsieur Dave who classifies me as a friend, how will I explain myself as to why I insulted a teacher, his colleague?

I had no idea how to begin and then I remembered how some church folks usually preach about the truth and how it sets one free.Then I opened up and said what I did

"I insulted her because she was dictating too fast".

And then I noticed this relieving feeling, and asked myself if i just said that.Then I began wondering what his reaction would be.

[Monsieur Dave]:

Well that was very rude of you,very rude!

Don't you know that she's your teacher?

If you feel she is dictating too fast you are meant to call her attention politely and lay your complain, with that, there's no way she wouldn't look for a way to make things work for the both of u,Insulting her will only paint you bad.

well that amused me, knowing that if I had called her attention and asked her politely she would have ignored me or at the worse case scenario I would get shot at. I just shook my head so as to let him believe I was taking his advice to heart.

He went inside and spoke with "you know who" and then he returned back.

[monsieur Dave]: you can go in, but make sure this never repeats itself. She had planned to take you to see the principal but I managed to convince her not to.

So go inside and join the rest of your colleagues.

I thanked him continuously as I walked slowly into the classroom then I headed for the table were she was seated.

[Nuel ]: I'm very sorry for acting rudely ma, I swear it will never repeat itself.

Even though I knew I was lying, even though I felt like removing her head, I just couldn't let her know all of that, I had to play good boy so as to help ease her mind and let sleeping dogs lie.

[Asemota]: just go, get back to your seat, its your father I blame for not bringing you up properly.

I felt like replying to that, I felt like letting her know that if i were to choose between 30mins in her class and 3mins with my father, I would ask them to double the time in her class and sit there.

My Dad always used force in everything he does, he doesn't settle down to think of another way out, he's always angry, like the hulk.

So when it comes to who brought me up properly, I would give the credits to my mum.

So I ignored all that was said and moved on to my seat where I started praying for her class to be over.

Later on, Her class ended, and other tutors came in, taught and Left.

And then came 11am, our break. While the Bell sounded, everyone screamed in jubilation and we all went outside.

Though the weather wasn't bright, it seemed as though it was about to rain but nonetheless, we all ignored it and went outside.

some went to play, some went to the library to read and that was what baffled me, I mean, what kinda i***t uses his break for studying after going through those excruciating classes???

With thia, I finally came to a conclusion that idiots were another breed of humans, bound to be foolish for the rest of their lives unless someone knocks the s**t outta them.

I on the other hand, went for lunch, i had no idea I was about to become aqua-man.

Upon getting to the canteen, it started raining, everyone in the Field rushed to take shelter. The rain lasted for about 20mins, leaving us with just 10mins of our break.But within that period, I had eaten what I bought at canteen, and my friend Israel was there too, but he chose to take his to the classroom to devour it there, so he went into the rain.

[Nuel]: what an idiot

I whispered.

So When the rain had subsided,I started heading back to my classroom, upon getting to the js1 block, I got tempted to walk the edges of the gutter, and flood water was flowing in it, so I needed to be careful.

While moving forward, I saw two feet approaching me from the opposite direction, one was coming from the edge I was walking on and the other was on the other edge

I looked up, it was the twin brothers. The only kids in js1 that had the physique of a body builder. An intimidating one for someone their age. There were only a few who could stand up to them in the whole of js1 and also, standing up to something is very different from defeating something, I believed there was no one capable of defeating them both in a duel.

So my heart started beating fast, I couldn't decide if I should get off the edge or rather stand up to them knowing I'll die if they were to pick a fight. But then it was too late, James, the one on my path had held my shoulder and I just froze in shock.

[James ]: Wetin dey worry you?(what's wrong with you). Can't you see I want to pass?

Then I found some strength and was able to speak.

[Nuel ]: But you guys are on both paths, you're supposed to move to your brother's so that I can move...

*pow!*, That was the sound of the slap from James that took me for a swim into the gutter.

By the time I got back up, they were gone and right in front of the js1 block, I had been humiliated.

I went back to my class, drenched, with gutter water dripping off me.

I had one thing running through my mind, not how to clean up, not reporting to the school authorities because I know firsthand they wouldn't do a thing, the twin brothers were the children of a French teacher in the junior block, so reporting them to the authorities will be a total waste of time.

While heading back to the class, I had just one thing in mind, to revenge.

As I entered the classroom, everyone starred at me like some fallen soldier. Israel rushed over to console me.

[ Israel ]: next time come with swimming trunks.

Then the whole class burst into laughter, it was quite funny though, but even with the smirk on my face I still couldn't get rid of the grudge within me. my mind was made up, I was going to confront them right after the school closes.

I just needed to beat the crap outta them, even though it seems impossible, I just have to, its a part of my stubborn nature, taking risks.

It was 2:25pm, 5 more minutes until closing hours, I just sat down starring at the wall clock beside the writing board, not paying attention to what the C.R.S teacher was saying.

Israel could tell I was up to something.

[Israel: ] just rest, E no get wetin u for fit do(There is nothing you could have done)

don't Gan kill yourself(Don't get yourself killed).

I just looked at him and laughed.

[ Nuel ]: don't worry, I'm okay.

The bell rang, and it was closing time, everyone began moving out of the class, Israel left quickly too, his driver was already waiting.

I went towards the reservoir gate, for that's were the twin bullies usually take, Their home was just a stone throw from school.

So I waited patiently for their arrival.This was one of the most intense moments I had ever faced. The decision to stay or go was tearing me apart from the inside.

It was like one of those moments in movies when a soldier or a hero knows he's about to die but chooses to stay all because of his resolve towards his goal.

"if I run, I'll never have rest of mind" I said to myself.

And then they came, walking majestically like two Greek gods about to devour wreck havoc.

Then our eyes jammed.

i could tell they knew what I was there for, so they started laughing.

[ Mark] : Guy whyyy????

[ James]: tell me, what do you hope to achieve?

It felt as if they were giving me a second chance to walk away, but I couldn't, something just wanted me there.

[ Nuel ]: You guys are crazy!. What was it that I did that made u hit me?

And as for you, James!

If you were sensible enough, you would have left me to walk freely while you joined your brother's path.

But instead you chose to be foolish.

At that moment I had lost control, started spouting out insults and that was only stirring them up.

[ James ]: You're mad!!

Na me you dey curse??( is it me you're cursing).

a second after that statement, they both rushed at me,I tried throwing a few punches but I was too busy hugging the ground while they panel beat me.

James picked up a plank and hit me with it.

I was in pain, I felt I was gonna die. But then something flashed across my mind, I was thinking of how Isaac usually kicks my ass and how it upsets me, I thought of how my annoying father always hits me out of frustration, I thought of how life has been quite unfair towards me and all that made me angry, and within that moment I started firing up, it was a s if I was gonna transform into the hulk.

Yes! I was still fired up, I couldn't feel a single hit from either if them, my Chest was burning with anger, it was as if I was gonna blow.

Suddenly I got up and within a split second i got up and landed two hits to their chests which pushed them away from me. It was as if I had become a super saiyan like Goku in DBZ, I was charged up, filled with Energy. And then it intensified, I could see streams of light rays flowing within me, I was all yellow.

But instead of the two idiots to run while I was trying to comprehend what was happening, they kept on attacking, James rushed at me, but before he took further steps I landed a punch to his chest thereby breaking a rib in the process. I moved so fast that he couldn't see me coming, it was as if I had become a speedster and this kept me amazed and at the same time it made me ruthless, I was now power driven, mark tried to take his brother and run but I intercepted him with a slap that took 10meters from me. James, being stubborn and stupid picked up a plank and hit me, I turned back, smiled at him and broke a few more ribs. Mark attempted to run and call for help because we were the only ones there, people don't usually take the reservoir gate, but due to the fact that it was a shortcut to the home of the twin bullies, they kept taking it.

mark got up, and upon getting close to the gate he got pulled back.

[Nuel]: so now you know how to call for help?

Dis got me fired up, I wasn't thinking straight anymore, and this time I was gonna break their bones and their spirits.

I gripped marks Neck, lifted him up, he was weightless to me and this only made me want to toy with him more.

But then I punched his face and that knocked him out completely. James on the other hand was still lying on the floor holding his ribs, I walked slowly to him,held his head and was gonna twist it 360°, but then something hit me and I passed out.

When I woke up, I found myself in a different location and someone was there with me, I looked closely at who it was, it was DJ(Dirty Joe). The trash dude from my neighborhood.

what was he doing there?

was he the one who hit me?

I couldn't tell, but then he spoke to me [Dirty-joe ]: I know kicking their ass was necessary to you, but going as far as trying to kill them was off limits. Its a line that once you cross it, there's no going back. But either way, it wasn't really you, you were driven by anger and hatred and your newly awakened power heightened it, so I had to knock you out.

I was just starring at him, asking so many questions in my head, My power? why does he speak of it as if its something common?

I had to ask

[Nuel]: How did you find me?

Then he replied smoothly with a smile when he said it.

[DJ ]: I tracked you.

I sensed your energy level and knew you had just awakened. Millenials always tend to go on a rampage during their first awakening, which is why elders are always available to subdue the threat they create.

[Nuel]:sorry, millen what??

[DJ]: Millenials, children born in a millennium. But our kind is special, we're protostars born on the "Day of the Month's number".

[Nuel]: Day of the month's number?, what does that even mean?

[ DJ ]: yes, there are 12 months right, and in each month, there's a corresponding day. Those born in the this day in every millennium are blessed with the gifts of a star, starting off as a protostar.

[Nuel]: And you think I'm one of them?

[DJ]:Tell me, when were you born?

[Nuel]: March 3rd, 2000.

[DJ]: That makes you a 3rd millennial.

you can only live in that body for 3 millenniums, and if you rapidly use your gifts to the fullest,your body deteriorates faster and shortens your half life.

[Nuel]: Huh?, I still don't understand what ya talking about, what are my gifts by the way?

[DJ]:Well, normally its just a gift tho, but its a gift that brings gifts so we all say gifts.

[Nuel]: just say it.

[DJ]:hahaha, well in summary

millennials have a core in their hearts that generates "Energy" its like a dust particle of light but can spark up a tremendous amount of Energy. The core grows stronger as we grow older.

And it gives us the ability to generate energy and this energy serves as a boosts our body, cells, tissues and all. Everything about us is heightened, strength, speed, stamina and senses.

[Nuel]: so I'm like goku?

[DJ]: you need to stop making references to TV shows before you end up doing something you think you can do

[Nuel]: But I get to power up right?

[DJ]: what an i***t. Get up, try to punch me.

[Nuel]: me?

[DJ]: Is there any other person here with me aside from you?

well, he was just standing in front of me, so I figured it will be easy to land a hit, so I got up, ran towards him and threw a punch and to my surprise, he wasn't there.

[DJ]: You missed!

How did he...? I was puzzled as to how he got behind me without me seeing him move a muscle. it was as if he had teleported.

[DJ]: Now that is one of the things we can do.

And suddenly I remembered that I did move at that speed in my fight against the twin brothers, not exactly the same speed though, but it was close enough. But I had no idea how I did it.

[Nuel]: pls teach me how to use this power.

[DJ]: well, I was gonna teach you anyway,But for now, I'll take you home, your parents should be worried about you're whereabouts.

[Nuel]:Yes sir.

Just before leaving I remembered the twin bullies.

[Nuel]: Did you leave them back there?

[DJ]: oh, those kids, I dropped them off at the hospital, they would need medical attention. so for now, come.

He touched me then with the blink of an eye, we were at his place in our street.

it was like we had teleported but it was just speed.
