Chapter 6 - I Reject You

"I'm here to tell you some news. It appears that the Hunter Organization has a traitor. Because the traitor defected, the entire family was arrested and are scheduled to be hanged tomorrow." She already knew the identity of this woman and that the hunter in question was standing right in front of her. This despicable woman was actually favored by someone like Alpha Edward. Alpha Edward happened to be the man she liked since she was a young girl, and she came here today to drive this woman away.

"What did you just say?!" With a swish, the branch in Dorothy's hand was pointed at Catherine's neck. The thin branch took on the sharpness of a dagger as she held it out in her hand. Catherine even felt a slight sting pierce the skin on her neck.

She unconsciously took a step back with a face as pale as a sheet of paper. There was a pillar at her back. She proceeded to step back as Dorothy took a step forward until she had no place to go. Dorothy's murderous aura instantly made her panic and she had no idea what she had done wrong in order to provoke this woman.

"I-I didn’t do anything. If you want revenge, go over to the Hunter Organization and seek it there," she said in a shaky voice.

With an idea of where this encounter was headed, the surrounding servants quickly notified Alpha Edward of what was going on.

Dorothy's heart was racing in her chest. She could not wait around any longer. She had to go back and face the hunters.

She knew that Joshua would do something to her family, but she never thought he would do such an underhanded thing. That he would use her family as bait in order to lure her out. She tossed the stick out sharply and made her way to the castle gate.

Catherine, who was still standing in the castle garden, smiled sarcastically and motioned behind her. A figure quickly appeared and then disappeared, chasing after in the direction Dorothy had left. This was the method she used to secretly kill any women who dared to approach Edward Alpha. She happened to be the daughter of the Kalmar Pack Beta, and even if she was found out, no one would dare to do anything to her.

Just as Dorothy walked up to the gate, she saw Edward standing out in front. She paused a beat, then said, "Get out of my way, I'm leaving right now."

Edward knitted his brows slightly and turned to look at her. "Where are you heading like this?"

Dorothy was feeling anxious and did not want to discuss this matter with him. She said straight to his face, "It has nothing to do with you. Get out of my way."

"I can help you with anything you need, but you can't leave,” Edward told her.

Dorothy's eyes looked very deep as she thought this over. "Why should I trust your words? Don't forget, you’re a werewolf, and I’m a werewolf hunter, we’re natural-born enemies."

Her words directly placed their identities into two opposing camps. Edward's face changed visibly at once. He clenched his fists and said in a cold voice, "You’re my destined mate, so you’re my responsibility."

Dorothy's face looked very furious and she right away attacked Edward. She could not beat Edward when she was in her prime, let alone now when she was still recovering from her injuries. With just one move, she was trapped in Edward's arms, unable to escape from his grasp.

"Damn it, you, let me go now!” Dorothy struggled wildly in his arms.

Catherine rushed over when she heard the commotion and just now saw this scene. This was the first time she saw Edward allow a woman to approach him. Could this woman really turn out to be Alpha Edward's destined partner?!

She angrily pinched a huge chunk of the big tree next to her and peeled off a piece of its bark.

Seeing that the two were still wrapped up in an embrace, she walked forward and said in a shocked voice, "Brother Edward, what in the world are you doing?"

At this time, she sounded very innocent and cute. She was very different from the savage werewolf she had shown Dorothy earlier.

Edward merely glanced at her and simply ignored her, all his attention focused on the woman in his arms.

Resentment could be seen in Catherine's eyes and she said in a casual manner, "So does this mean that Sister Dorothy is the destined partner of Brother Edward? There’s a probability that the destined partner can be rejected. I’m so happy for you that your relationship is so good that this possibility can never happen."

Both Edward and Dorothy froze at Catherine's words. It was the first time Dorothy had heard of such a thing. Taking advantage of Edward's stunned moment, she suddenly escaped out of his embrace and stood a few steps away from him, giving him a cold look all at the same time.

"I reject…"

"You're rejecting me?" Edward cut in. His face looked very terrifying at this moment. His arms were bulging with muscle and his red eyes had a tendency to darken, which they did right then.

A complicated look flashed through Dorothy's eyes. After hesitating for a bit, she steeled her resolve and said, "Yes, I happen to reject you as my partner."

Raymond and Jerry had just arrived on the scene to hear this. A thought appeared in Raymond's mind at that instant, It's over, we’re too late!

Jerry, however, did not appear worried about the outcome. There was even a hint of relaxation to his casual aura.

Raymond stepped forward in an anxious manner to say something about the matter but was stopped by Edward. He did not want to force this woman to stay by his side if she did not wish to. His pride would not allow for such a thing to happen.

Dorothy did not see anything wrong with the man. Even though she thought his face was out-of-the-ordinary, she could care less about it.

Dorothy had just walked out of the castle when she suddenly felt her body weakening. Something was wrong with her heart and a burning sensation there almost made her cry out painfully. She stopped in her tracks abruptly, but the pain would not stop. Tears flowed ceaselessly from her eyes and a sad feeling surged through her from the bottom of her heart.

This grief happened to be not hers, it was someone else's…

At the same time, Edward, who was still standing by the gate of the castle, suddenly threw up blood and staggered backward.
