he punished her

Skye’s P.O.V. (Continued) For the first time in my life, I wanted to laugh hard at someone’s misery, but this someone is my biggest bully. The one who inflicted so much pain on me that I was still breathing unevenly. “Don’t tell me that everything vanished just like that?” William taunted her, throwing a disgusting gaze at her. She was still lying on the floor pathetically. Her clothes were completely disheveled, and her legs were twisted at weird angles. She frantically searched her wrist for the nail marks that I left there, but she couldn’t find them. Her face turned pale in fear and disbelief. She continued moving her wrist in front of her in different angles as if they would appear by changing the angle. “Enough.” Arthur roared. She shrieked in terror and scrambled backward while looking at us fearfully. The silence that fell in the room was suffocating. Arthur’s presence was already enough to loom over everything, pressing down like an invisible force that refused to let anything breathe freely. And now it was mixed with his fury that almost choked my breath. I kept my eyes half-closed. My breath was uneven, and I trembled enough to make him believe that I was scared. Arthur looked back at me, but his gaze changed. It is soft now. Still, it felt sharp and measured as if he were trying to peel me apart layer by layer without even touching me. “She hit you,” he asked, his cold and controlled voice cut through the silence. I stilled for a fraction of a second, processing if he asked it. I blinked twice to confirm, hoping that he could understand. I couldn’t move my hand freely without feeling the pain. So, I resisted my urge to move my hands to say something to him. I slowly moved my face to the other side so that he could see my cheek. His gaze hardened while staring at my cheek. “Where else more?” he asked again, his voice now cold enough to freeze the whole ocean. I wanted to tell him that she yanked my hair too, but I winced in pain when I tried to move my hands. He looked down at my hand and slowly took it. I shivered hard because of his touch, but weirdly, I felt a slight relief in my pain. It was comfortable but unwelcoming. He put my palm on his face. I felt something flickering in my stomach, giving me an unknown pleasure, and I hated it. His cheek wasn’t soft, but warm enough to make me feel safe. Weird, right? “Should I move your hand up?” he asked me, and I understood his reason for putting my hand on his cheek. I blinked twice to say yes, hoping that he understood this simple logic. And he understood. He lifted his other hand up and put my hand down at the same time, and then he gently checked on my head. I hissed in pain when he touched the place where she yanked my hair. He shot a look at William. William immediately walked forward and grabbed Winona’s right hand. He narrowed his eyes when he saw two strands of silver hair stuck inside her nail. That was the last nail in her coffin, I guess, because the next second, two growls shook the room. “It…. It’s not like that, Alpha… I…. I was trying to….. to help he…. Help her to stand up, b… but she resisted a…. and these hair got stuck here.” Winona stuttered hard while trying to lie, but she was now scared to death. The temperature in the room dropped a few degrees, making me shiver slightly. This time, it wasn’t an act, but I was genuinely scared. “Throw her to the dungeons…. 100 slaps…. Both sides…. Hang her by her hair.” Arthur commanded coldly. “Whole night.” He added slowly. My breath hitched, and I just stared at him in a daze. “Noooooo, please alpha….. I …. I didn’t hurt her…. I am sorry….. please, spare me alpha.” Winona started screaming again, making me flinch slightly. Her screams were now giving me a headache. Two warriors entered the room and dragged Winona out of the room. She continued screaming like a banshee until the door closed again. “Call Colton,” Arthur commanded William while standing up. I was about to breathe out in relief when I held my breath again. Because he stopped and looked at the nightstand. I also followed his gaze and pursed my lips into a thin line when I saw the food tray there. He slowly lifted the lid, and an awful smell assaulted my nostrils. The room turned into a freezer, but I could see how hard he clenched his jaw. A bitter smile appeared on my lips, but I moved my gaze in the other direction. This wasn’t the first time that they fed me the leftovers or something half-cooked. I felt a sting in my nose, but I didn’t sniff. I didn’t want them to notice my grievance. “It….. it’s my negligence, Alpha. I …. I will take care of it,” William spoke to him fearfully. Without saying a word, Arthur dashed out of the room in long strides. The door burst open with a bang and closed in the same way…. I flinched once but closed my eyes. A mute burden…. Yes, this was my nickname, and Winona and other maids in the kitchen made sure to taunt me with this name all the time when I ate. I never had a hot meal or a fresh meal. I got a meal three times, and this was the best thing for me because, in my father’s pack, I wasn’t allowed to have more than one meal. Two on any feast…… but in normal days….. I was exhausted and wanted to sleep instead of staying awake. “I am sorry, Luna.” I heard William mumbling an apology, but I didn’t open my eyes. I didn’t know why he was still standing beside the bed, but I didn’t show any reaction. He sighed and then slowly walked away, taking that awful smell with him. Good riddance. I relaxed my body when I heard the closing of the door again. The silence in the room was welcoming, but it also reminded me that I was still alone. Sleep was far away from my eyes. Arthur’s earlier five mates were killed within a week after they got engaged to him. People around me mocked me sometimes. They said that even the killer didn’t see me as worthy of being killed by him. How pathetic. It’s good that I wasn’t worthy of being killed by the killer because it saved my life. Now, it was my turn to punish all those people. I tested my abilities on Winona, and it worked. No matter how hard she would scream, no one would believe her that I hurt her. She couldn’t explain why she was in so much pain because her whole body was intact. I needed to protect myself from others, and now these loopholes in that spell will be my weapon. I flinched hard in fear when someone knocked on the door softly. The door opened, and William entered with the pack doctor, Colton. “What happened to her? Why are there new injuries on her face?” Colton shrieked worriedly, almost running in my direction. I looked at him fearfully and then at William. “No to fear, Luna. Colton is the one who saved you earlier and tended your wounds. He has alpha’s permission to examine you,” William comforted me with assurance, and put the tray that he had in his hands on the nightstand. He then moved to Colton. “I guess, a maid mistreated the Luna and threw her to the wall there,” William explained the situation to Colton, pointing towards the wall where I was lying on the ground. “What the f**k? If….. if you can’t keep her safe, send her back to her home. Do you know how difficult it was to join her broken bones without leaving any deformity, and now you are telling me th…. that someone threw her to the wall? Seriously? She is our future Luna, William. If…. If she is not safe, then who is?” Colton continued berating William while gently pulling the sheet away from my body.
