I arrived back at Silas's mansion. A faint, fleeting smile tugged at the corner of Silas's eyes the second he saw me walk through the door. He set me up in the largest bedroom in the entire house—even bigger than his own. I slipped off the jade bracelet that suppressed my vampire powers, shifted into my bat form, and burrowed right into the pile of soft blankets on the bed.
