Swimming circles around my room I sigh yet again. In a few short hours, the six and half hour journey to the capitol begins. With an unexpected guest.
Ale Insists on accompanying us up to the capital.
I should be asleep resting for the journey, but instead I lay awake restless. At first I was floating around hoping the hours ticked by faster, that somehow turned into me swirling around in anxious swirls.
The past week I spent working my ass off with my normal clientele on top of the Princess’s wedding style. Not that she really wanted me to style her. I blow bubbles out at the thought.
Whenever I deny her wish I wonder if all my work will go to waste. I didn't need her as a customer, so why was I still going through with this? If it’s all a facade.
Not even I could ignore a royal summons and get away with it. I could be charged with treason and get my head chopped off. That’s the light sentence for treason. They could banish me to the trench. The deepest part of the oceans where feral beasts live.
Neither was an option. I would show up and tell her they've been mistaken. I’m just a fashion designer. They have no proof of said powers.
I stop swirling and grab my sketch book needing a way to channel my emotions. I didn't have any orders to fill for the next two days, but it didn't hurt to have a head start.
By the time I look from the sketch pad, the light has fully returned to the water and I Panic. I’m late. We were supposed to leave right whenever the light returned.
I put on my signature pink shell top, and tie a silky pink scarf with swirls around my waist. I don't normally add anything else, but since we're meeting with the princess; I add three strings of pearls, and two enchanted ever blooming flowers to the tie. A pink flower with long stingy petals and an white flower with chunkier petals. Around my waist I add a string of brown beads.
Not having time to do much else I grab my purse and rush out of my adobe.
Whenever I finally make it to the meeting point everyone is waiting around hand on hips, “I’m sorry! I lost track of time!”
“If I would have known you were going to be an hour late I would have slept in, “ Rysah yaws, her blonde hair sparkling in the morning light.
She stands with Ale and Emris- who had also instead of going along, since his friend would be there- and four other guys who I do not know the names of.
“Since we are all here, are we ready?” Ale asks rather irritatedly. A c***k in his usual cool demeanor.
I eyed him rather curiously as everyone muttered their agreement to start heading out.
Rysah began to grumble an hour into the journey. I try to reassure her that it will be a quick swim there, but she has her doubts.
Two hours in the water begins to darken. We take a quick pit stop and have breakfast.
“A storm's brewing up above.” Emris takes note.
Ale nodded his head in agreement, his cool exposure regained once more, “the tides are in our favor we’ll be fine.”
“It’s just odd,” one of the guys pipes in, he looks quite normal looking compared to the guys in charge, “storm came out of nowhere.”
No one said anything as we munched on some fresh fish, then continued on.
I felt the shift in the water an hour and a half later. I think we all could as suddenly all chatter came to a halt. Rysah didn't dare utter a complaint, and hadn't for the past twenty minutes now.
No one seemed to want to admit that something was wrong as we all pressed on, at what seemed to be a faster rate.
What was going to happen?
I trail behind the group, my tail not being able to pump as fast as theirs. But then I stopped swimming altogether as darkness descended on us from all sides. The open waters suddenly empty and devoid of any fish.
“What the-” Rysah began to utter up ahead before she's tossed to the side.
Were all tossed to the side caught in a whirlpool of water. I begin to scream, a whirlpool? Who was casting a whirlpool.
With my thoughts still in a jumble I begin to swim with the rushing waters not daring to try and defy it as it grows bigger and bigger. The center begins to become devoid of water. Through blurry eyes I can make out two figures in the middle.
What makes my eyes bulge is that neither has a tail. Just two weird appendages. I think they called them legs. I didn't know much about the human kind other than to stay away.
I try to watch the encounter of the two people as I’m being thrown around in circles. Rysah still screams as she's getting tossed around also. Ale and Emris are nowhere to be seen.
Could they be the two figures in the middle of the whirlpool? Did they cast it? I shake my head. Neither had the power to, I knew both of their powers.
Before I have more time to think about it I'm flung through the air and I go flying up, up, up. I let another scream as I have no power to stop myself from plummeting straight into a coral foundation.
