A pair of glowing golden eyes blinked open in the darkness ahead. The source of the warmth inside the cave showed itself. The black wolf needn’t step into the light, Nathaniel could see him clearly, even in the dark. Its eyes shifted from Nathaniel to the girl in his arms. “She’s out of mana again.” The wolf assessed calmly, its voice low and deep, like the rumble of earth before a quake. It walked towards them, its eyes examining Aria as she lay comfortably in Nathaniel’s arms.
