☠️ THE CONTRACT ☠️
EMMA'S NEW APARTMENT ☠️☠️
“OMG! Is this the new apartment you were talking about?” Emma asked, covering her nose as she stared around the place in disbelief.
“This looks like a rundown apartment! You were supposed to give me a discount for this!”
“Sorry, but there's nothing called a discount in my business, Mrs. Brook,” Mrs. Brook replied sarcastically.
“Urgh! Asking for a discount? So cheap! If you're looking for a job, you can as well come and clean our mansion,” Abbie, Mrs. Brook's only daughter, said from behind them.
“How dare you call her cheap, b***h?” Anna snapped, already looking angry. “And I can't blame you. It's because you spend every penny of Mommy's money that you think everyone is like you.”
“Anna…”
“Leave them,” Emma said tiredly. “They aren't worth fighting with.”
“Better,” Mrs. Brook muttered before turning around and walking away, with Abbie following closely behind her.
Emma sighed and looked around the apartment again.
“Okay… we're definitely going to have to renovate this place.”
She glanced at the time.
“And it's already late. We'll start tomorrow. I also need to go pick Mom up.”
“Exactly,” Anna said, dropping onto the couch.

NEXT DAY 🧠🧠
EVENING — 7:00 PM
The apartment that had looked almost unlivable the previous day now looked completely different.
The walls had been cleaned and painted, the furniture had been arranged neatly, and the entire place had a simple but elegant appearance.
Emma and Anna were sitting on the couch, exhausted from all the work.
“I think you should go pick Mom up,” Anna said.
“Yeah, I think I should get going.”
Emma suddenly smiled.
“And guess what?”
“What?”
“I already paid every last bit of Dad's debt.”
Anna's eyes widened.
“OMG! I'm so happy for you! Now those people can finally stop disturbing you.”
“Mom is going to be so happy when she hears.”
“Yes, she will. You need to get going now, though. The weather doesn't look too good.”
“Okay. Bye!”
Emma grabbed her car keys and headed outside.

EMMA'S OLD APARTMENT 🥀🥀
“Mom, I'm home!” Emma called as she entered the apartment.
“Oh, honey, you're back!” her mother called from the kitchen. “I baked some cookies for you before we get going.”
“Okay, Mom. And guess what?”
Emma's face was filled with excitement.
“What? You know I'm not good at guessing,” her mother replied, laughing.
“Okay, I'll tell you.”
Emma paused dramatically.
“I paid all of Dad's debt… and I rented a new apartment. You'll be living with me now.”
Her mother's smile immediately widened.
“OMG, Emma! That's such wonderful news!”
She rushed over and pulled Emma into a hug.
“I knew things would eventually get better for us.”
“It's okay, Mom,” Emma whispered emotionally. “We deserve this.”
After packing their things, the two of them eventually left the apartment.

OUTSIDE THE APARTMENT
INSIDE THE CAR 🚗
Emma drove while her mother sat beside her.
At first, everything seemed completely normal.
Then Emma noticed something strange.
“Umm… Mom?”
“Yes?”
“This car seems to be getting faster.”
Her mother looked at the speedometer.
“Emma, slow down.”
“I am trying!”
Emma pressed the brake.
Nothing happened.
Her eyes widened.
“Mom…”
“What?”
“The brakes aren't working.”
“What?!”
“I said the brakes aren't working!”
Emma tried again, but the car continued speeding forward.
“Emma, pull over!”
“I'm trying!”
Panic filled the car.
The road ahead suddenly seemed to be getting closer and closer.
“Emma!”
“I can't stop it!”
A loud crash suddenly echoed through the street.
The car collided with a building.
Everything went silent.

🍄🍄 AT THE HOSPITAL 🍄🍄
Emma sat outside the emergency room, tears streaming down her face.
Anna sat beside her, trying her best to comfort her despite having tears in her own eyes.
“It's all my fault,” Emma whispered. “I should have been the one in there. Not her.”
“Emma, stop saying that,” Anna said gently. “It wasn't your fault.”
“But what if I had driven slower?”
“You tried to stop the car. You couldn't control what happened.”
Emma wiped her tears.
“Was anything wrong with the car before?” Anna asked.
“No,” Emma replied. “Nothing at all. It was working perfectly.”
Anna frowned.
“Then how did the brakes suddenly stop working?”
Before Emma could answer, the emergency room doors opened.
A doctor walked toward them, his expression serious.
Emma immediately stood up.
“Doctor?”
“I'm really sorry, Miss Emma,” the doctor said. “Your mother suffered serious injuries and she's in critical condition. She needs immediate surgery.”
“Su… surgery?” Emma stuttered.
“Yes.”
“How much is it?”
“We don't have the exact amount yet. Come back tomorrow morning and we'll give you the full estimate. You'll need to bring some money so we can begin as soon as possible.”
Emma's heart sank.
“Tomorrow?”
The doctor nodded.
“Yes.”
“Okay, I will get going now,” Emma said, leaving.
---
BACK AT EMMA'S APARTMENT
“Where do I even get the money for surgery?” Emma said. “I just paid Dad's debt and I don't really have much on me.”
“Don't worry. I will cover up the bill. Just take what you have to the hospital,” Anna said. “And I made pasta before I got the news and came to the hospital, so just go shower and come back to eat.”
“Do I even think I can eat?”
“Don't worry. I will be back,” Emma said.
---
AT THE DINING TABLE 💋
None of them said anything and continued eating when Emma's phone suddenly rang, and a notification popped up.
“OMG!” Emma suddenly shouted. “I just got the job I applied for! And not just any job—the one that pays a huge amount!” Emma said happily.
“Yay! I'm so happy for you. That calls for a celebration.”
“And I'm also starting tomorrow!” Emma announced. 😜🥳😉

NEXT DAY AT THE COMPANY ⚡⚡
“Are you Miss Emma?” the receptionist asked.
“Yes,” Emma replied.
“You've been asked to go to the boss's office directly. Let me take you there,” the receptionist said.

BOSS'S OFFICE 🦜🦜
“Ohh, Emma, you are here,” Cole said with a smirk on his lips.
“Yes, sirrr,” Emma stuttered, her cheeks turning red.
Cole had always been her crush, but she never had the chance to meet him.
“I know you have a crush on me. Don't even try to hide it. It's obvious,” Cole said.
“Ho… how did you know?” Emma asked, her eyes widening in shock.
“I always have my way, you know,” Cole said.
“Anyways, I'm also interested in you, but I have a job you have to do for me.”
“I'm your boyfriend, right? And you will do anything for me,” Cole said with a smirk plastered on his face.
“Yes, of course,” Emma said.
“Now, what you have to do is…”
