Hugh stood in front of me, his frown deep and a crease between his brows. His eyes went from me to the back door and then back to me.
“Was there someone or something out there with you?” He asked.
The meaning of his question wasn’t lost on me.
So, I was correct to assume that everyone besides me knew that the Black Dragon would be in the courtyard this evening.
“No,” I lied, not wanting him to know that I was speaking to the dragon. I wasn’t sure why I wanted to keep that a secret, but something inside of me was telling me to. “I was alone.”
He didn’t look like he believed me, but he didn’t argue either.
“You should return to your chambers. You need to rest,” he tells me. “Trials will be continuing soon.”
