Chapter 6: The Academy

“You can put your powers into training by going to the Magic Academy.”
The voice in Fiona’s head has been trying to convince her since the day she found out she had magical powers and after swallowing the magical stone she found in her drawer when she woke up from her coma.
Fiona is now 18 years old and is fully healed from any sickness. Infact, since the old earthy woman came into her room, she had not gotten ill. She is currently scrolling through websites looking for the best colleges to go to and further her education.
“Found any yet, sweetheart?” Her dad sat on the bed beside her and gently kissed her forehead.
“Um…dad i was thinking maybe i should go to a Magic Academy.”
“Magic Academy?”
“Yes dad. You know i have some gifts and i would like to train my abilities.”
“Yes honey, i know but do you really think it’s a good idea? I mean i would do whatever makes you happy… but a Magic Academy sounds kind of extreme. What if someone puts you under a spell or you turn into a witch or something…i don’t want to loose you baby, not after i lost you for almost 2 years to a coma.”
Fiona laughs and closes her laptop. She embraces her father and pulls him into a tight hug.
“Dad, i am a big girl now. I can take good care of myself and i promise to visit you and mom every weekend and teach you the new things i learnt. Just please please let me go here. I want to learn and train my magic.”
She sounded just like the voice in her head.
Her dad looked scared and worried but he knew he had to let her do what makes her happy.
“Okay sweetheart, i would talk to your mom about it.”
“Yayyy…” she squealed. She was very happy and excited to be going to a Magic Academy but she was also scared and anxious about her decision. Is she really going to the voice in her head? Is she really going to listen to Nyx?

The Academy was big. Very big. It looked like a planet of its own. It had very tall old buildings with wind vanes and a large clock at the front of the biggest building.
Humans of different ages, sizes and skin color lurked about and everyone seemed to have their own group.
“Chin up, Fiona.”
The voice in her head reminded her as she lowered her hair from unease. She was scared. For the first time in her life she was scared about something. Maybe this was a bad idea.
“No, it wasn’t.”
“Shut up Nyx. Let me think for myself. Stop reading my mind.”
Everyone around paused and started staring at her.
Oh s**t, that was loud.
“Hey everyone, don’t mind me sometimes i talk to myself, I’m new here, my name is Fiona. Fiona Bell.”
She was ignored by almost everyone in the hall except a blonde boy who looked Russian.
“Welcome Fiona. We have an introductory test by 11am today. Make sure to be in the main room. Bye.”
She knew about the introductory test. It was a test to prove yourself worthy of staying in the Academy. She glanced at her phone.
10:57am. 3 minutes left.
She glided through the hall looking for the door that had MAIN ROOM written at the top.
After three staircase pile and bumping into over 30 students, she found it. The main room.
“Hello everybody, welcome to the Academy. My name is Aria Flynn and i am the head of the Student Council here.”
“Cocky much?”
A tall woman with long blonde hair and piercing green eyes matched with an athletic built body stood on the podium at the middle if the room and announced.
“On my right is Remi Ravenwood, a brave member of the Student Council.” She announces pointing to the tall, pink haired girl with bright blue eyes on her right side.
“On my left is Jaxon Lee, another brave member of the Student Council.” She announces pointing to the tall, handsome boy by her left side with a muscular build and short golden hair. He was far from where i stood but i knew he had grey looking eyes.
“Oh, he is hot.”
“Together, we would train you all from students to amazing mages and help you all control your powers. We are also in charge of all the affairs of the student and whenever you see any of us, do well to bow your head and greet us with respect.”
There was an uproar of applause in the room as everyone seemed excited. She raised a clenched fist after about thirty seconds signalling decorum in the room.
“Before we fully admit you into the college, we would conduct an introductory test. Right now. And it would be simple. You just have to show us something you can do with your powers.”
Fiona exhales and her palms begin sweating.
“It would be fast and would be in the order of which you registered into the Academy.” She came down from the podium and signaled the girl she called Remi to organize the test.
This was beautiful, every student that stood on the podium showed out of the world. From spells to orbits to creating mystical creatures. Every person had their unique way if their magic and it was very amazing.
“Next up, Fiona Bell”
Fiona’s heart skipped a beat as she gulped the saliva in her throat and towards the podium.
“Just like we practiced.”
Fiona knew little to nothing about magic but Nyx did a little job in training in the little she knew ever since she figured that she swallowed the powers of a fallen god, Nyx embedded in a stone.
Fiona had a few tricks up her sleeve. She knew how to make things fly and make things dance in mid air.
She was confident that that would get her into the Academy. So she put on a song on her phone and it blasted through the speakers, pointed her fingers towards the chair on the podium and said a spell.
The chair began floating and dancing mid air. It was dancing to the rhythm of the song as she controlled its movement.
Fiona was happy that she was able to impress the audience as she heard an uproar of applause and saw Remi and Jaxon nod their head in approval.
“Welcome to the Academy, Fiona Bell.” Remi announced through her microphone.
