She stared into my eyes as though trying to see through me. “But you killed and destroyed.”
“I know,” I whisper. “And I’d burn myself a thousand times if it meant undoing it.”
“But things like that can’t be undone.”
“It can’t but i want to build again with what i have left.”
Her eyes soften, just a bit. “And what’s left?”
I take a step toward her, close enough to feel her breath. “You.”
For a moment, she doesn’t move. Then she looks away, shaking her head. “You can’t fix what’s broken between us.”
“I am willing to try.”
Taking her hand in mine, it trembles but she doesn’t let go.
“Orlando is still out there. Planning his next move and i know for a fact that he won’t give up until he gets you.”
“Then we face him,” she says. “Together.”
