I walked down the hallway and paused in front of Candice's room. Taking a few deep breaths, I raised my fist to knock on the door. Hearing her voice say, "Come in, the door is open," I turned the knob and gently pushed the door open.
She was seated before her vanity, running a brush through her lengthy, dark brown hair.
"Hi." I smiled, and she just stared at my reflection with a serious expression on her face. "I came here to return the dress you lent me last night."
I placed her folded dress on top of her bed.
