I tried to change my train of thought and took a sip of my drink. A cramp in my thigh started to form, but without any possible movement I couldn’t change my position. That knot in my muscle was only the beginning. By tonight I knew that twinge in my leg would be only one of many. I stretched my foot just a little and mentally tried to relax my leg to sort of wish the cramp away. Actually if you catch it early it works for a while. And so I remained all rolled up in a little ball with nothing to do but wait. The beating of my heart was the only noise that I could hear. I decided to count my heartbeats.
