14 My shaking knees gave out on me, and Sean nudged a chair behind my legs, lowered me into it. I still held my phone pressed to my ear, but after I’d told her to b****y be quiet, Jess hadn’t spoken for at least two minutes. Neither had Sean nor I. We’d simply stood looking at each other, oblivious to the attention we’d gained from Sean’s friends, from the restaurant staff and fluorescent girls.
