Chapter 2- Charnelle and Sharnelle

Charnelle P.O.V

“Yes I can show him around the school today.” I said waiting for the exchange student to turn around so I could see his face.

“Good I will let y’all get to know each other and I have some paperwork that I need to finish up with right now.” My mom said as she turned towards her office and walked inside. Slowly I watched the exchange student turn around the face me. I grasped once I knew who it was, quickly I rushed him out of the office until the hallway near the front office.

“What are you doing here?” I asked him.

He laughed. “ I told you I would see you around little wolf didn’t I?” Travis said to me with a smirk on his face.

“Don’t give me that look right now because my friends are asking how I didn’t find you in that field earlier today.”I said to him with a growl.

“Calm down little wolf. Just say I out smarted you that’s all.” He said to me with a laugh. 

“Whatever dude. Let’s go.” I said to him. While showing Travis around the school, we ended up bumping into my brother and Sasha a long with the alpha’s Darren and Damien, towards the end of our tour near the front office again.

“Um Charnelle who is this?” Maurice asked while looking at Travis up and down. 

“This is our new exchange student mom asked me to show him around the school this afternoon. Travis this is my brother Maurice and he is the future beta of our pack, and this is his mate Sasha and my best friend. The two gentleman over there are our alpha’s of our pack name Darren and Damien. Everyone this is Travis.” I said to them while trying to walk past them quickly.

“Nice to meet you Travis.” Sasha said while giving me the eye. I quickly looked away from her.

“Likewise Sasha. It’s nice to meet everyone here.” Travis said to them. 

“What pack are you from Travis?” Darren asked while looking at Travis and me questionably.

 “I‘m from the Blue Lagoon pack that is south of your boarder from your pack Alpha.” Travis said to Darren.

“Great now that we got that out of the way why don’t I show you where the gym is since you like to play basketball.” I said to Travis while pulling him towards the back of the school.

“What was that look your friend gave you back there?” Travis asked me when we neared the gym.

“You saw that huh? It was nothing really.” I said to him. 

“Yes I noticed that, so what was that look for?”

“It was nothing please drop this conversation Travis.”

“Nope little wolf if you haven’t noticed yet that I‘m a very determined person.”

“Yeah I can see that very much sir.” I said to him laughing. 

“How about this we play a little game of one-on-one and you answer my question truthfully and no bullshitting me little wolf.”

“A game of one-on-one as in basketball.”

“Yes little wolf.” He laughed at me while walking to the rack of basketballs in the center of the court.

“Hmm you are on mister.” I laughed at him. 

After playing the game of one-on-one, me beating Travis by one point, we laughed as I showed him were he could shower at before leaving for the day.

“You seem all smiles this afternoon?”  Sasha said to me as she entered the girls locker room. 

“What can I say? I just played basketball with a really tall person and kicked his ass in basketball! So yeah I’m all smiles this afternoon, it was so much fun.” I said to her, while changing into some more clothes.

“Hmm interesting do you think he is your mate?”

“What no! I was just enjoying his company. Why are you doing 21 questions on me right now for?” I asked her with a hint of annoyance in my tone.

“Damien doesn’t think you should be hanging out with an unmated wolf!” Sasha said to me.

“Why the hell does he care who I hangout with? Ugh he is really starting to annoy me.” I told Sasha with a growl.

“Alpha’s words not mine.” She said nervously.

“Whatever I can hangout with whoever I want to hangout with he is not the boss of me.” I said leaving the girls locker room. Before I could leave the locker room I was pushed back into the wall near the lockers.

“What the hell!” I said as I come face to face with Damien.

“I AM YOUR ALPHA AND YOU WILL DO AS I SAY!” Damien yelled at me. But before I could say anything Damien was grabbed off of me by Travis.

“Travis please don’t interfere it will make things worse please!!” I pleaded for Travis to step down from this challenge.

Here we are standing in locker looking between these two alpha’s as their auras are radiating of so much power that Sasha can barely stand without help. I slowly circle them trying to bring them both out of this trance that they are in while stirring at each other.

“Please alpha Damien he meant no harm he thought you was trying to hurt me.” I said.

“Travis please stand down! Alpha Damien please stand down also!” Sasha said leaning against the wall for support.

  “Little wolf when I was referring to that look your friend give you I was talking about your alphas’s not Sasha.”

“WHAT! Travis what are you talking about?” I said looking between him and Damien.

“Hmm she doesn’t know. I see now, little wolf when do you turn 18?” Travis asked me well still looking at Damien.

“STOP CALLING HER LITTLE WOLF!” Damien said through clenched teeth. Before I could answer Travis question, I noticed that Damien had stepped in front of me. I gave him a puzzling look before answering Travis.

“I turn 18 tomorrow, but what does that have to do with y’all trying to tear each other apart right now!” I yelled. Stepping back in front of Damien who growled at me again for doing so.

“Your alpha here thinks I’m trying to take you as my mate.” Travis laughed while slowly releasing his tensed glare at Damien. He reached out his hand for me to take it. 

“DO NOT TOUCH HER!” Damien said to Travis. I slowly walked over to Travis. Damien quickly grabbed my arm to pull me back towards him, quickly he passed me to Sasha who was looking just as confused as I was. 

“What the hell is going on here!?” My brother asked as he entered the locker room with Darren behind him looking at us worriedly.

“Nothing at all dude, I was just leaving.” Travis said to Maurice while looking at me.

“Little wolf I will definitely see you around ok.” Travis added before leaving the girls locker room. I quickly pushed my way through their bodies to get towards the door, but he was already gone.

“What the hell was that about for real someone better start talking.” Darren said to us, but looking directly at me.

“It was nothing like he said. Sasha come on we will be late for dance practice.” I said as I grabbed my duffle bag off the bench and walked out the locker room.

Dance practice went by pretty quickly which I was glad it did I had a lot on my mind at this point. I just wanted to go home and relax before tonight. I thought to myself.

Charnelle we need to talk when you get home. My dad said to me. 

Yes sir! I’m on my way now.  

“Nelle! Wait up!” Sasha said to me while running from the locker room to meet up with me. I noticed Nicole was right behind her.

“Are we going shopping for tonight for your birthday?” Nicole asked me while walking to my car.

“Hopefully we can I think my dad knows about what happened here at the pond ugh. So I have to go talk to him right now but I will definitely let you know something though promise.”

“Ok and damn girl you know your dad doesn’t play at all.” Nicole said as she palmed her face and shaking her head.

“Right tell me about it. Look I will see you later.” I said to her and Sasha but before I could get in the car Nick come running up to my car.

“Hey I need to talk to you privately Nelle.” Nick said to me motioning for Sasha and Nicole to leave the area for a minute.

“Really Nick? Nelle we will see you later.” Nicole said with an attitude.

I laughed and looked at Nick before motioning for him to get in the car. I turned on my radio on so that no one could hear our conversation.

“I know you let the rogue go earlier today at the field, and I also know that the guy you was showing around the school is the rogue.”

“What? Nick you can’t say anything to the alpha’s ok? Why are you just now saying something for?”

“I have my reasons. If I need something I’m definitely coming to you for my favors.”

“Whatever dude now get out I have to meet my dad.” I said starting my car.

Driving to my parents house all I could think about was if my mom told him what happened or Damien and Darren told their dad what happened. I was not ready for this conversation with my dad at all. He can be very overprotective of me since I’m the baby of the family, it can be a blessing at times. Pulling up to the house I could see that my parents are outside waiting on me. 

Oh great. I said to myself. Quickly turning off the car I got out and meet up with my parents. My mom looked calm and relaxed, but my dad looked like he was stressed and upset about something. I took a deep breath before continuing to walk towards my parents. 

“Charnelle how was your day?” My dad asked me while looking at my questioningly and looking back at my mom.

“It was ok, nothing major happened today.” I said to him while trying to walk into the house but he stoped me.

“I’m not done with you yet young lady get back here now.” My dad said to me very stern voice causing me stop walking away from him.

“Yes sir?” I said questionably looking at my mom for help.

“Don’t look at your mother for help.” My dad said to me.

“Now what happened at school and at the pond near the school?” My dad continued to ask me.

“I got into an argument with Maurice and the alpha’s interfered and chastised me for over stepping my boundaries, so went to for a run and ended up at the pond near the school. I went for a swim in the pond then I got out and smelled the scent of the rogue I tracked it but I lost the scent in the opened field about 2 mile away from the school.” I said 

“2 miles away from the school Charnelle why the hell would you go that far, and not get anyone to go with you? My dad said to me angrily and looking back at my mom. 

“Did you know about this? Did you apologize to your brother at least?” My dad continued to talk to me and my mom. 

“Ugh you sound like the alphas's just now and I had no choice in the matter of me apologizing, even though I didn’t use my beta tone with him first he did, but I have to apologize in what crazy world do we live in right now.” I said to my dad and mom shaking my head. 

“It doesn’t matter who used their beta tone first baby girl your brother is next in line to be beta of the pack once the alphas’s ceremony of transitioning comes next month for them, so yes you was in the wrong for getting mad at him over whatever it was. Do you understand now?’ My mom said to me calmly seeing that my dad was getting mad all over again.

“I guess so can I go now since I want to relax for a while before I go shopping with the girls.” I said looking at my mom and dad giving an exhaustion facial expression.

“Where are you going shopping at baby girl and why are you going shopping for?” My dad asked me while looking back at my mom.

“For my birthday tomorrow daddy duh and in mall that’s in town, why is something wrong?” I asked looking at him and my mom.

He coughs. “Um baby girl you can’t go to the mall in town right now because we are on lock down right now Alpha Derrick has been alerted that some pack members have seen a rogue inside the packs territory and we need to get a handle on this so no one going anywhere young lady.”

“But daddy my birthday is tomorrow and you said that I could go to the club in town like this is so not fair right now. Ugh!”  I said with a growl. I quickly turned around run into the house.

“Hey didn’t be growling at me young lady!” My dad yelled inside the house.

SHARNELLE POV

“Shawn! Stop it leave her alone she needs it, her whole world is about to change in the next 4 hours. Once she finds her mate everything will be difficult for her.” I said to my husband as I kissed him on his cheek and walked into the house.

I walked up the stairs towards my daughter’s room where I could hear her crying softly. 

Knock knock knock.

“Go away!” She said to me.

“Not going to happen baby girl, I know you are upset believe me I will be upset if I was in your shoes as well but I need you to be a big girl and dry your tears for me please baby girl.” I said as I sat on her bed lifting her to my lap and stoking her hair as she cried softly onto my lap.

“But mommy tomorrow is my 18th birthday I don’t want to be suck in the house with you and daddy all day at all.” Charnelle said to me with tears in her eyes. 

“I can’t promise you anything but I will ask your dad if he can talk to Alpha Derrick to see if you can be escorted to the mall to go shopping ok baby girl.” I said to her while stroking her cheeks.

“Yes mom that will be ok plus Sasha and Nicole wants to go as well I know Alpha Derrick will have an escorts for Nicole if she comes with me.” She said sounding very excited at the moment.

“Ok good now go wash up and meet me downstairs to help with dinner your brother and Sasha, Nicole and the twins are here already.” I said as I left her room. Mind linking my husband  to see where he is.

Where are you babe?

I’m in my office sweetheart.

Knock knock knock.

“Busy doing work I see, what do you what for dinner tonight?”

“It doesn’t matter baby whatever you fix is fine with me at the moment. But I have a feeling you didn’t come in here to talk about dinner correct?” He asked me giving me a questionable look.

“Yes and no, I want you to ask Alpha Derrick if he could let someone escort the girls to go shopping tonight for Charnelle’s birthday baby please.”

“Seriously women you and our daughter are going to be the death of me for real. I will see if he has anyone to spear for this.”

Alpha Derrick I would like if you could grant my daughter access to leave the grounds to go shopping with her friends for her birthday tomorrow?

Yes I can beside you only turn 18 once in your life I will have one of our warriors go and the twins will go as well to keep a look out for them as well.

Thank you so much Alpha Derrick she will be very excited.

I watched my husband finish his mind link with the Alpha, he went back to his paperwork without telling me a thing. I waited a other minute before I started to get an attitude with him.

“Hmm hello did you forget that I was standing here waiting for your reply about what Alpha Derrick decided?” I said to him with an attitude while walking towards his desk.

“No babe I didn’t forget about you, I had just wanted to finish this email first that’s all love.” Shawn said to me looking up from his computer.

“Well what did he say Shawn gosh you take to long to respond to people you know that. Hey put me down!” I said to him as he lifted me off the ground to give me a kiss on the lips. 

“You are very cute when you get mad, you know that right?”  He said to me as he haled my scent from my neck.

“I wasn’t trying to be cute Shawn that’s for sure now stop that and tell me what Derrick said please baby.”I said to him while he keep kissing on my neck.

“Ugh fine he said that her and the girls can go but the will have a warrior with them and the twins are also going with them as well. I’m also telling Maurice to go with them as well since the twins are going too.” He said to me while placing me back on the ground. 

“Oh great she will be very happy now let me go tell her and get dinner started.” I said to him moving away from him quickly, but he stopped me.

“Sharnelle no I will tell her you just go get dinner ready.” Shawn said to me.

“Fine I will go get dinner started.” I said leaving his office and giving him a wink at him.

Headed downstairs I could see that Charnelle was downstairs with her brother and her best friend and the twins and their sister Nicole. I walked into the kitchen to started making steak fajitas and cilantro lime white rice. Out the corner of my eye I could see Charnelle coming into the kitchen.

“Mom what did dad say? Did he asked Alpha Derrick?” She asked while washing the steaks I took out of the  refrigerator looking at me chop up the onions and bell peppers. 

“He didn’t tell me anything yet baby girl we will just have to wait until dinner is ready ok.” I said to her.

“Ok then, what do you want to me to do with the steaks now mom.” She asked me.

“Can you cut them up into thin strips please and place them in a bowl for me.” I said to her 

“Hey Mrs. Avery do you need any more help in here?” Sasha asked as she entered the kitchen with Nicole right behind her.

“Yes I can surely use some more help in here girls come on in. Maurice and the twins can set the table for me please.”

“Yes ma’am we can.” Damien said to me. I gave him a polite smile and finished cooking the rice.

“Baby girl take the salad out of the refrigerator and then go tell your dad that dinner is ready please.” I said to my daughter.

Charnelle POV

“Yes ma’am.” I said as I went to get the salad from the refrigerator, Damien stopped me in the kitchen.

“Charnelle can we talk please?” Damien asked to me.

“I don’t think we have anything to talk about to be honest now if you excuse me I have things to do.” I said with an attitude towards him. 

“I think we do so come here now.” He said to me while blocking my way back to the dinner room.

“Ugh you are so annoying I swear. What do we have to talk about like seriously!” I said with a hint of annoyance in my tone.

“You being around an unmated wolf for starters, the disrespect that has been coming from you today is unspeakable.” 

“Is that it I need to tell my dad that dinner is ready if you don’t mind your highness.” I said as I walked away  from him. I could tell that he watching my ass as I was walking away. I chuckled and shook my head. I headed to dinner room to put the salad on the table and headed towards my dad’s office.

Knock knock knock 

“Daddy mom said that the dinner ready. Daddy?”

“I heard you baby girl let’s go, but first I do have something to tell you though.”

“Ok daddy what is it?”

“You can go to the mall I will mind link Alpha Derrick to let him know when you all are leaving and the twins and Maurice are going with you as well as a senior warrior of the pack for protection, do you understand me under no circumstances should you girls trail off from your brother or the twins, the warrior. Are we clear?”

“Yes daddy crystal clear!!” I said excited running downstairs but I quickly stopped and turned around to give my dad a big hug.

“Thank you so much daddy!”

“You’re welcome baby girl.” He said with a laugh as we entered to dinner room. Once entering the dinner room I noticed that the only chair was available between the twin Alphas’s for me to sit with them.

“Umm can someone switch seats with me?”

“Baby girl stop being rude just sit down and eat please it doesn’t matter where you sit.” My mom said to me. I just look at her an smile. 

If only she knew, ugh who’s bright idea was this?  

I told you we might be their mate. Carmen said to me.

“Everything is very delicious Mrs. Avery.” Nicole said to my mom.

“Thank you Nicole its been a while since I have gotten a chance to cook more food for just four people now a days.” My mom said as she finished eating. I listened to everyone talk around the dinner table. I could feel that someone was trying to mindlink with me, so I let my walls down.

Charnelle we need to talk ASAP!  

Sure, meet me at my house in 20 minutes. I told Nick. I could see that the twins were looking at me questionable.

“Sasha and Nicole once dinner is over with can you guys meet me in my room please?”

“Yeah sure, but where are you going now?” Sasha asked giving me a questionable look.

“I um....left something back at the school so I’m going to go get right now. Mom dinner was delicious as always I will be right back.”

“Wait! You will not go to the school this late young lady, let the twins or your brother go with you now.” My dad said to me looking at my mom and back to me.

“Um no its ok daddy, Nick is going with me to the school since we are partners.” I said to him, but I noticed a growl escaped from the twins throats.

“Why is Nick going with you?” Darren asked me.

“Because he’s my partner for our science project that’s all.” I said to him while leaving to dinner room only to find the alpha’s right behind me.

“Seriously you don’t have to follow me you know.” I said to them as I grabbed my jacket out of my room. 

“Yes we do, now tell us what is going on now.” Damien said to me.

“Nothing is going on, now can you excuse me.” I said as I pushed passed Damien, to only be stopped by Darren. 

“Not so fast, why didn’t Nick ask one of us to go with you, because him and some of the other younger warriors are helping with the lock down?” Darren said to me, then looking at his brother and back to me.

“I don’t know maybe he decide not to go I’m not sure now I need to go please.” I said to them as I moved downstairs, I could feel their intense stares on me as I reached for the front door.

“Charnelle wait you will need the key for the building to get inside, and the access code is 032631 for the alarm system.” My mom said to me and give me a kiss on my cheek.

“Thank you mom, I will be right back though then me and the girls can go shopping.” I told her.

Reaching for the front door I was greeted by Nick coming to knock on the door when I opened it. I give him a puzzled look and moved to close the door, only for it to be stopped by the alphas’s. 

“Ugh great. Can you guys just let us go and we will be right back dang.”

“Nick we need to talk to you right now then y’all can go.” Darren said to Nick.

“Ugh seriously you guys are getting to be very annoying right now.” I said to them as I walked towards Nick’s car which was a 2019 Chevy impala. While the alphas’ and Nick finished up talking I started looking at my phone and seen that I had a message from a number that I didn’t recognize before. 

Call me little wolf! 

“Nick let me see your key’s please.” I asked him, walking over to get them. After grabbing the keys from Nick I quickly jumped into his car and turning on the radio so that him and the alphas’ wouldn’t hear my conversation.

RING RING RING!!

“Hello? Little wolf I‘m glad you called look I need to see you immediately meet me in the field in 30 minutes I‘m glad your friend got in touch with you for me.” Travis said to me. I quickly looked out the window to see if the twins could hear my phone call.

“Fine I will meet you but you are causing quite a disturbance in our pack now sir, see you in a little bit bye.” I said to him. After hanging up with Travis, Nick quickly gets in the car. While driving off Nick glances at me and shakes his head towards me.

“What? Why are you looking at me like that for Nick?” I asked. 

“Because all these men are very attracted to you, and you are so clueless about! Now I have to take you to see some crazy ass rogue and pray to the moon goddess that they don’t find out about this and try to kill me over this s**t!” Nick said to me 

“I know that Nick! You don’t have to remind me now let’s hurry up so I can go shopping.” I said while shaking my head towards Nick
