Chapter 7

Charnelle’s P.O.V.

“Look, I’m sorry OK, I should have told you that she contacted me last night.” I said to them, only to see them stand up and walk to the bed.

“Get in bed Nelle,” Darren said to me. I get up and walk over to the bed and get in it. I lay there with their backs turned towards me.

“Damn, I really pissed them off, huh?” I said to myself.

Yeah, we both did, their wolves are even mad at me.

I finally drifted off to sleep. I wake up to hear my alarm going off and to see that I’m alone in bed. I looked at my phone to see that the time is 6:30am.

“s**t I’m running late!” I said to myself as I jumped in the shower and washed my body.

You two could have at least woke me up when you two left this morning for training!

Still no answer from them. I get out of the shower and dry myself off and put on my clothes. I decided to go with a light blue tank top and a white crop top and a mini black skirt and my light blue wedge heels. I packed my bag for dance this week.

Hey baby girl, we are downstairs.

OK mom, I’m coming.

I brushed my teeth and brushed my hair so that my curls would pop more, I grabbed my black leather jacket and my car keys. Once downstairs, I ran to give Chloe a big hug and lots of kisses. Chloe just coos and giggles as I play with her.

“Mom, has she eaten yet?” I asked my mom.

“No, not yet. I brought her milk and stuff if you want to feed her.”

“YES PLEASE! I miss our feeding time.” I take out her bottles and things and start to feed her. As I’m feeding Chloe, I hear some of the pack members coming into the pack house. I make eye contact with the twins before they come over to greet my mom and take Chloe from me. I let out a growl at them which they ignored and handed her back to my mom, and walked back upstairs. My mom looks between me and my mates.

“What was that all about?” She asked as we walked to the daycare center in the compound.

“They are upset with me because I didn’t let them know that Vanessa contacted me last night, she wanted to talk. I was on my way out but Maurice saw me and told them and they are giving me the cold shoulder right now.” I said to her as we checked Chloe into daycare.

“I will be back later this afternoon. She has an appointment around 2pm today.” I told Deja the receptionist at the front desk.

I walked to my car but before I could get in it, I received a mindlink.

Meet us in our office NOW!

Hmm, now they want to talk. I said to myself. I walked into the pack house and walked to the first floor. I knocked on the second door on the right.

“Come in,” they said in unison. I entered the room, I saw a guy standing near the window. He gives me a brief nod and turns back to the window.

“Charnelle, this will be your guard Anthony, he will be with you everyday from this day on.” Damien says to me as he turns back to his computer.

“Oh hell no I told you that I do not have a guard with me 24/7.” I told them with my hands on my hips.

“AND LIKE WE TOLD YOU, YOU WILL HAVE A GUARD WITH YOU 24/7 THIS IS NOT UP FOR DISCUSSION. NOW GO CHANGE YOUR CLOTHES!” Darren said to me, but I knew his wolf was on the surface. I looked at them and rolled my eyes and walked out of their office. I headed to my car and got in it and drove off. The drive to the school is about 45 minutes away from the compound. I park my car in the back parking lot of the school.

Nelle, you are really starting to piss us off with your childish ways and attitude. Anthony is bringing you some clothes to change into at school!

I block their mindlink from coming in to me for the rest of the day. I walk into school, go to my locker, and grab my first two class books into my book bag.

“Nelle, wait up girl, damn I love that outfit and how are you doing?” Sasha asked me.

“I’m great and who’s that standing off to a distance from us?” I asked Sasha with a questionable look on my face.

“Your brother has a guard on me 24/7, which sucks because I can’t lose him for nothing. Hey wait, where is your guard at?”

“I left him at home with my irritating ass mates this morning.”

“Damn girl, you are a badass, but you know you are just making them more upset though, right?”

“Yeah whatever, I’m done talking about them.” I said as I entered my first class. Sasha shakes her head at me and walks to her seat. Sasha looks down at her phone, answers it and passes it to me.

“Here Nelle, it's for you.”

“What, who is calling me on your phone? Hello?”

“Charnelle, I’m this close to locking your ass up in the dungeon if we see another f*****g text message or f*****g phone call from that f*****g rogue!”

“What are you talking about? I have my phone wi—“ I was cut off by Damien.

“NO YOUR f*****g PHONE IS HERE AT THE f*****g PACK HOUSE! I SWEAR TO THE MOON GODDESS I'M GOING TO KILL HIM!” I look at Sasha who is laughing at me and roll my eyes at her. I ended the call since I didn't feel like hearing their mouths at the moment. Our first class went by pretty fast, which I was happy about. We headed to our next class.

“Hey, go ahead of me, I’m going to stop by the bathroom right quick.” I walked into the bathroom and used it. As I was walking out I caught the scent of my mates. I quickly try to head in the other direction but they catch up with me and push me into an empty classroom.

“Let me go damn it!” I said to them as I yanked my arm out of Darren’s grasp. Once I did that, I was forcefully pinned against the white board by Darren’s wolf.

LISTEN CLOSELY NELLE, IF WE HAVE TO TELL YOU AGAIN TO BEHAVE, WE WILL MAKE SURE THAT YOU WILL NEVER SEE CHLOE EVER AGAIN. DO WE MAKE OURSELVES CLEAR TO YOU! I looked at them with so much disgust in my eyes that I turned to face the door. Darren turned my face back to him.

ANSWER ME NELLE! His voice boomed in the classroom.

YES I UNDERSTAND YOU! I yelled back at him.

“Go change Nelle, and meet us back here afterwards.” Damien handed me a bag of clothes. I headed out of the classroom.

I'm sorry Carmen, but I can’t do this with them dictating my moves. This is annoying as f**k. I tell Carmen she just whimpers in my mind and I head back to my class only to realize that I left my books dumb and dumber. Ugh! I said to myself. I walked back into the classroom and grabbed my books off of the table.

“Didn’t we tell you to change your clothes?” Damien said to me and looked back at Darren.

“You did, but I’m already late for class now. I might as well just keep this on for the rest of the day.”

“NELLE GO CHANGE YOUR f*****g CLOTHES NOW!” They yelled at me in unison. I look them dead in their eyes and start stripping in front of them. I’m standing in a empty classroom with my bra and thong on in front of my mates and a f*****g bodyguard. Darren moves to cover me up and Damien growls to let Anthony know not to turn around yet. I just laugh at them in my head. After I finished dressing, the bell rang to let us know it was time for lunch. I grabbed my stuff and walked out of the room first. I looked back to see if I could see Anthony or my mates behind me but I didn’t see them. I quickly made a beeline towards the back of the school. Once I reach outside, I run straight for the pond that’s about a mile from the school.

Hey I’m close. Are you near?

Yeah I’m here now.

I know I should tell them what’s going on but I can’t just yet. I reached the pond and I saw Vanessa sitting near the edge of the pond. She looks up once she catches my scent.

“Look, I’m going to get straight to the point, Charnelle, I’m Chloe’s mother but I don’t want anything to do with her, OK?” Vanessa said to me.

“You know he is going to want those DNA results on her in the next two days, Vanessa. He wants to be in her life. What am I supposed to do about that?” I asked her.

“I will try to get him to drop this whole thing about being in her life, OK? She is a constant reminder of broken promises that were made to me and I can’t have her around me.” Vanessa said to me with tears in her eyes.

“Trust me, I’m a hundred percent against abortions, but why not get one if you don’t want to have her?” I asked her as I sat down beside her.

“You and I both know that it’s against the law to get an abortion for higher-ranked wolf pups. Look, I just came to tell you that ok. I have to go Travis is calling me right now and we will talk again in a couple of days. Bye Nelle.” Vanessa said to me as she quickly disappeared into the woods. I got up from my spot and headed back to school. I looked down at my watch and realized that it was 1:30pm.

“s**t I’m going to be late.” I said to myself as I hopped into my car. I drove towards the compound. I reached the compound and I mindlinked to Deja to let her know that I was around the corner to pick up Chloe.

Hey, I’m parking my car, then I will be there to get her.

OK Luna, she is ready to go and is upfront with me.

“Luna” repeated the word to myself. I walk inside of the daycare and pick up Chloe and sign her out for the day. I made my way to the pack's hospital. I signed in at the hospital for our appointment.

“Luna and Chloe, it's good to see you two,” Amy says, walking back to the examination room.

“Yeah, I know it's early for her shots and everything, but I was wondering if you could do a rush DNA test on her. I have hair from my mother and father please. Can you keep this between us OK Amy?”

“Yes, Luna, I can do that and I can have it done in 48 hours. Is that good for you?” Doctor Amy asked me.

“Yes, that's perfect for me. Thank you so much.” I watched as she swabbed Chloe’s mouth and placed the swab in a plastic tube and she collected the items that I had in my hands. I collect Chloe and we head to my parents' house. At my parents' house, I played with Chloe and we ate. Finally, it was time for a nap. I cuddled up with Chloe in my arms as I laid down in my old room.

Damien’s and Darren’s P.O.V.

“I can’t believe Nelle pulled that stunt on us today.” Darren said to me as we pulled up to the pack house. I parked the car, I got out and was about to head into the pack house when I saw Nelle’s car near the daycare.

“Hey, I’m going to see if she is at the daycare center right now.” I told Darren. Walked towards the door and opened it.

“Good evening Alpha. What can I do for you today?” Trina the receptionist said to me.

“Good evening Trina, I was wondering if Luna Charnelle was here right now?” I asked her. I could smell her scent but it was fading and that let me know that she was here earlier today.

“Let me see, oh she signed Chloe out at 2pm this afternoon, Alpha.”

“OK thank you.” I said as I walked back outside. I looked at her car.

Hey, is Nelle in the pack house?

Hold on, let me check. I went straight into the office when I came in.

I walked up towards our bedroom, I opened the door no Nelle, I checked the bathroom, the closet and I even checked Chloe’s nursery.

No she’s not here either.

Damn it, if she runs away again I'll put her ass in the dungeon, mate or not. She is not about to keep leaving like this.

Let’s just try her parents' house first before we come to any assumptions, OK.

Fine.

I made my way toward her parents' house. Once I see Darren coming down the street, I knock on the door. Nelle’s mother opened the door.

“Um Alphas, what do we owe this pleasure of seeing you two this evening?” Sharnelle said to us.

“We are here to see if Charnelle is here?” I asked her, before making my way into her house.

“I haven’t seen Nelle since this morning, but I figured she had taken Chloe back to the pack house.” Sharnelle said to us as we entered her home.

“The daycare said that she signed Chloe out at 2pm. Do you know what for?” Darren asked her.

“Um, I believe she said that Chloe had an appointment this afternoon, but feel free to check to see if she is here and are you all going to stay for dinner?” Sharnelle asked us.

“Yes, we will stay for dinner. How has Chloe been doing here?” Darren asked Sharnelle.

“She is doing great here but I do believe she misses my daughter very much though,” Sharnelle said to Darren. I made my way up the stairs to Nelle’s room. Her scent was very strong, coming from her old bedroom. I opened her door to see her cuddled up with Chloe fast asleep on her chest.

Yeah she is here. I think we should bring Chloe home tonight. I said to my brother in a mindlink. I walked over to the bed and rubbed my hand over Nelle’s cheek, she grabbed my hand and let out a little moan and stretched out a bit.

Charnelle’s P.O.V.

I felt sparks on my cheek as I turned to stretch and grabbed someone’s hand. As I finally opened my eyes, I realized that Damien was holding on to my cheek.

“What are you doing here? What time is it?” I asked, laying Chloe down on my bed, and carefully moving off the bed.

“I’m here because you left school early and you weren't at the pack house when we got home. The time is 6:35pm.” He said to me while watching my every move. I headed to the bathroom to fix myself. As I finished in the bathroom, my stomach started to growl.

“Hmm, it seems like you are hungry. Let's go eat since your mom cooked dinner.” Damien said to me as he picked Chloe up to place her in her bassinet. As we left my old bedroom, I felt Damien grab my hand to hold it while we walked down the stairs. We entered the dining room and there was a seat left for me and Damien. Once we were seated, we all started to eat.

“Nelle, I do have a question: have you been in contact with that rogue since a couple of days ago?” My dad asked me while eating his food. I looked at the twins and fidgeted in my seat.

“Hmm yes I have. I have a meeting with him in two days about something. Why do you ask that?” I asked my dad as I could see that the twins' faces were hard with a very hard to read expression on them.

“Interesting I must say what time are you meeting him. I would like to accompany you to this meeting.” My dad said to me,

“Hmm, it's more of a private meeting, to discuss things.” I said to him,

“What things will y’all be discussing at this meeting?” Darren asked me through a clenched jaw. I looked at him before I answered him.

“We will be discussing Chloe and her DNA test results.” I said to him while standing to take my plate to the kitchen. Just as Darren walked into the kitchen I heard Chloe crying.

‘I need to get her.” I said to him as I walked past him to head up stairs. Once upstairs, I changed Chloe and fed her again. I felt a presence behind me. I turned around to see Damien and Darren looking at me.

“I’m not trying to argue with you guys right now.” I said to them as I started to pack a couple of bags for me and Chloe to take back to the pack house.

“We are not here to argue with you either, Nelle. We are here to help you pack things up for Chloe.” Darren said to me as he grabbed the bags off of my bed and headed down stairs. Damien walked over and grabbed Chloe’s car seat and my bags on the floor and held the door open for me to leave the room with Chloe in my arms. Walking downstairs, my mom and dad kissed Chloe and I said goodbye for the night.

We are doing our training in the morning, so I suggest you get some sleep, baby girl. I will be calling you at 5am sharp young lady. My mom said to me in a mindlink.

Yes ma’am. I said to her, I walked out of the house with Chloe in my arms and the twins waiting for us on the porch. Once we entered the pack house, Sasha, Nicole, Simone all greeted us at the door.

“Aww you finally brought my little niece home now yay!” Nicole said loudly.

“Shh! Girl, she is still sleeping from the walk up here.” I told her as they followed me into her nursery.

“So when do you have to meet with that rogue?” Sasha asked me while looking at Chloe asleep in her bassinet. I give her a questionable look before answering her.

“If you must know that I will be meeting him in two days, go over her DNA results.” I told her as I put up the baby monitor and headed downstairs.

“How do my brothers feel about that?” Nicole asked as we entered the kitchen.

“Honestly, they don’t like it, besides. Besides, I got one of my questions answered already, just waiting to have my other one answered.” I said to them as I grabbed something to drink from the refrigerator. While the girls and I were having girls' time, I saw Anthony walk into the kitchen.

“Luna, the alphas would like to see you in their office,” Anthony said to me, and walked out of the kitchen. The girls just looked at me and shook their heads.

“Hey, while I’m in there, can y’all check in on Chloe if she wakes up?” I asked them.

“Yeah sure thing.” They said to me. I walked towards their office door and knocked on it.

“Come in,” they said to me. I walked in to see the twins sitting at their desk and my dad sitting on the couch.

“What’s going on here?” I asked them.

“While baby girl I’m here so I can get more details about your meeting in two days with this rogue.” My dad said to me, I looked at him, then the twins before continuing.

“Daddy, we are just going over her DNA results and talking about if I will let him into her life.” I said to him and heard growls from the twins.

“He is not going to be in her life at all, Charnelle, that’s for damn sure.” Darren said to me as he paced the floor.

“I already told Vanessa that.” I said to him with the roll of my eyes.

“When did you talk to Vanessa? And why didn’t you tell us that you were going to talk to her?” Damien questioned me, waiting for me to answer them.

“I talked to her earlier today.” I said to them,

“When you left school earlier, was it when you saw her?” Darren asked me and I looked at my dad and Darren.

“Yes, that's when I saw her and went to take Chloe to her doctor's appointment.” I said to them as I sat down on the chair in front of their desk.

“Why didn’t you tell us that you were going to see her or to speak with her?” My dad asked me.

“To be honest, she was the one that wanted to talk despite the differences that we have with each other. She told me that she is Chloe’s mom but she doesn’t want anything to do with her and that she is just a constant reminder of broken promises that were made to her and that weren’t kept.” I said to them,

“Did she tell you who the father is?” My dad asked me.

“No we didn’t get that far into the conversation before Travis started to call her.” I said to them.

“But whenever I contact Travis I will let you know what time the meeting is and everything.” I said to my dad as I got up to leave the office.

“We are not finished here, Nelle,” Darren said to me. I stopped and turned around to meet my dad as he kissed me on the cheek goodnight and walked out of the room.

“Hmm OK, what’s up?” I asked them.

“Are you sure that Vanessa didn’t tell you who Chloe's father is?” Damien asked.

“Yes, I’m sure she didn’t tell me, but I think I might have a feeling who it is. I just have to wait until I get the DNA results back from doctor Amy tomorrow. Are we done now?” I asked them.

“Please keep us posted on this matter, Charnelle, we are serious,” Darren said to me.

“I will, besides it's not like I have a choice in this matter right now, do I?” I said as I walked out of the office. After leaving the office, I still had some pent-up frustration that I knew I needed to get out. I quickly walked into my bedroom to change into some workout clothes.

Nick, where are you right now? Do you feel like sparring? I asked on mindlink.

Shit yeah. I can spar with you. Meet me in the gym in 5 minutes.

Great coming now.

I checked in on Chloe before heading to the gym that we have in the pack house. She was still fast asleep. I headed downstairs to the gym. Maurice gave me a questionable look.

Where are you going dressed like that?

To the gym. Why are you going to tell my mates about me now?

I heard him laugh from our mindlinks and shake his head no. I continued my walk and I felt someone grab me from behind, but I knew who it was by their touch.

“Hmm, where do you think you are going dressed like that?” Damien said to me, as he ran his hand up and down my side.

“I’m going to workout with Nick for a couple of hours.” I said to him as I leaned against him.

“Why don’t I get a female warrior to spar with you instead?” Damien said to me.

“Ugh no, I’m fine with working out with Nick, now let me go so you can finish your work.” I said to him as I pushed past him and headed downstairs. Once down in the gym, Nick was there starting his warm ups.

“I thought you weren't going to make it.”

“I said I was coming and just got caught up, that's all.”

“Good now, let’s start with 30 sit-ups, 30 burpees, and 50 jumping jacks to get your heart pumping.” Nick said to me. After the warm up, Nick led me to the punching bags.

“Trust me, I know your punches are powerful, but let's make it stronger and productive boo.” Nick said to me with a smirk.

“No, let's go straight to the mats Nick please.” I said to him,

I shook my head and walked over to the training mat, we circled each other waiting for one of us to make the first move. Nick rushed at me. I quickly dodged his attack, but only to get several quick kicks to my right side. I growled at him. We continue to spar for 30 more minutes. I received a mindlink from doctor Amy.

Luna, I have Chloe's DNA results for you.

OK, I’m coming now.

I knew I should have put up a block while I was sparring with Nick.

“Ouch, that s**t hurts!” I said to Nick as I grabbed my face and looked at him.

“My bad Nelle, I didn’t know you were having a conversation when I kicked you! s**t the twins are going to kick my ass for sure damn. Nelle, I’m so sorry, please forgive me.”

“Nick I’m fine and I need you to cover for me until I get back ok please.” I told him while standing to get up off the ground.

“Fine, I will cover for you. Hurry back.” Nick said to me. I rushed out of the gym. I arrived at the pack's hospital.

Amy, I’m here.

“Luna! What happened to your face?” Amy asked me with a questionable look on her face.

“I was sparring when you linked me, so I wasn’t paying attention, that's all.” I said to her as we walked into her office.

“Hmm, I think I should have you check out Luna please. Why isn’t your wolf healing you yet?” Amy asked me when we walked into her office.

“Oh, we had a disagreement earlier so she is protesting about healing me right now, it’s fine really. So her results?” I said to Amy.

“Oh yes, here they are.” Amy said as she handed the paperwork to me.

“I thought you said it would be here in two days?” I asked her, looking over the paperwork.

“Luna, can I please take a look at you before you go back? And I made them put a rush on the dna for you and they got it back to me tonight. Do I need to read them to you?” Amy asked me.

“Yes please and yes you can check me out, and doctor, why is it so hot in here right now?” I asked Amy.

“No Luna, it’s not hot in here. And the results say that Vanessa is the mother and that alpha Damien is the father. Luna, I can run the test again if you like? You do have a broken nose and a nice cut across your cheekbone, also Luna.”

“Doctor Amy, it is hot in here and you are really hot in here. Look, I’m over here sweating! OK, you can fix my nose and give me some snitches and I had a feeling he was her father smh. Amy, this stays between us. s**t I had a feeling he was her father! Aghhh!!”

“ Luna, please stay calm, OK! I promise you it’s not hot here at all, Luna. Have you and the alphas completed the mating bond yet?”

“Amy, it is hot as hell in here and what is going on right now? Why and why am I so hot? I need to get out of here please, I have to go now. No, we have not completed the mating bond! f**k! What is wrong with me right now?” I asked doctor Amy.

“Luna, you are going into heat!" Amy said to me.

"It's too early."
