Happy??yes I was, but the more I became happy the verily I became sad, my parent and two brothers were no more to see what we all wanted, me becoming a doctor in reality. Two days more to leave Dzodze to Canada, everyone in the village knew about my departure, Well-wishers came to say their goodbye whilst others also called me cursed, others too just felt pity for me, but, I was grateful for a better turn around in my life. I informed my brother Sedinam about the good news and my departure, he was really proud and glad that at last I will leave the village for a better future ahead of me.Mawusi as always was very closer to me for the last two days of my departure. She came around the night before my departure with our friends from school including Ella as well. That night we all left my house and went to the bar to drink and merry because I would leave the next morning .Well, I was moody but I joined them ,at least I felt they were there because of me.when we got to the bar, we ordered some minerals, both alcoholic and non alcoholic to drink and enjoy ourselves.Mawusi’s plan was to make me miss my flight which I did not know of, but Ella made sure nothing happened to me.That fateful night I drank too much so I could forget my worries. My brother sidinam promised me he will arrive at Dzodze, help me pack and go with me to Accra, I will take my flight from there to Canada. As we were boozing and chilling, two other guys from another table started an argument which made the bar very noisy .The bar attendant tried to control the situation but it did not subside. As we all agreed to leave the premises, Mawusi alone decide we should stay but her decision did not matter at all because we had all started leaving the premises at once. She said to me, Enyonam chill okay, today is your last day, take this one last drink before we leave. Ella took the drink from my hands, this turned into a fight between her and Mawusi, so as those two guys were still fighting, Mawusi and Ella were also fighting. I had to call for help for them to stop. we drank too much that it made me start vomiting, when I got home I was lucky my brother sedinam was finally home, he took care of me that evening. I wept as lay down and said to my brother,
“Do you sometimes wish mama and dada together with our two brothers were still her alive”, sedinam said,
“Yes all I wish for is that they could come back to life but they are dead and gone all we can do is to move on with our lives, do not worry my one and only sister we shall be fine.” I replied to sedinam, “oak, let’s do our best to visit their graves early in the morning before we leave” .my brother replied back,” Yes we shall .you know we cannot leave without saying goodbye. Goodnight sister”. I replied “goodnight brother.”
Early the next morning Mawusi came to say goodbye, she could not stop destiny this time, she followed my brother and I to visit grave yards and left us there, she said,” goodbye my friend”, I replied, "goodbye Mawusi". And then she left .some few minutes after she left us we also said goodbye to our family and left for Accra. I had never left my town Dzodze before and I was very grateful that I reached here. We got to the airport, everything was processed at the kotoka international airport,Ghana. I said good bye to my brother sedinam and promised to come for him some years later .it was a miracle that I did not die.As I sat in the plane all I could still think of is mum ,dad ,Edem and ewenam, may their soul rest in perfect peace, bye until we meet again .the plan fled off to Canada.
