Chapter 6

934 Words
The next few days are intense, the pain is unbearable. After his rejection of my being Luna, I was thrown into the same room as before. The feel of fire is burning down my body, I am shaking all over and bleeding from his assault. Malakai is a terrible leader, and I hope that when I bare a son he will be nothing like him. If I have anything to say about it, I will raise his right. He will rue this day! I drift in and out of consciousness for what seems like months. From the calendar in my room, it states it’s only been 3 weeks since this all happened. A maid comes in changes my bandages and washes me down the best she can. She hums a song to me every time she is here. It is so soothing; I catch myself humming to the same tune when I am alone. I think she said her name is Anna, and she seems to be about my age. Always humming happily and walking with her head held high. I roll over in my bed and gasp, a sharp pain shoots from my back. I reach around and feel indention holes, I want to see what this is. Curious about them I go to stand up taking my time, this is the first time I have moved in weeks. I am just thankful to be alive, I was sure I would not make it, but here I am. I sigh as I grab ahold of the table, Anna walks in. “Are you crazy? What are you doing!” She criticizes me. She runs to me and grabs my arm to help me balance, she tries to take me back to the bed, but I refuse. “No, I need to see what this is.” I point to my back, and she sighs. “I don’t think that’s a good Idea, this is the longest you’ve been awake, and those wounds are not pretty.” She suggests. I shake my head no. “Okie dokie, it’s your body.” She shrugs as she helps me to the small bathroom in my room. I turn around to see what it is. There are 8 spike looking holes in my back, I sit and stare at them trying to remember back to what happened. They are deep, reddened holes. They are healing but slowly. “Wolfsbane was on those spikes, which is why it hasn’t healed yet. To keep you from..” “I get it!” I say a little too loud and she jumps. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to raise my voice. Was this what was digging into my back out there?” I ask. She nods her head and I sign, wolfsbane wounds take the longest to heal. With me being unconscious for 3 weeks, meant I wasn’t eating. No strength to heal if I am not eating. “Please, let me help you back to bed, or I can run you a bath?” she offers and I smile. “A bath sounds lovely.” She smiles and starts humming that tune that is so catchy. She puts bubbles and medicine into the tub. “It’s all set, I will lay out your clothes for you. They will be on the counter, please don’t get out alone. Yell for me I will be in the other room tidying up!” she chirps as I sit back in the tub I smile and nod. The warm water washes over my wounds and it feels so good. Like for the first time since that morning I am becoming clean. Flashes of what happened on that stage flash through my mind. I look for a brush and start scrubbing my skin, I rinse my mouth out several times. I take the wool brush and start going at my skin, scrubbing it raw. But no matter how many times I scrub down there, it doesn’t take the feeling of disgust away. Anna walks in and sees my skin so raw in some places it starts to bleed. “Oh dear.” She says as she comes up to me, I am still scrubbing, I didn’t even notice the sobs escaping. “Shh, it’s ok. You’re ok. It will be ok.” She keeps repeating as she runs water over my skin. I get worn out from the exertion and fall back into the tub. “I don’t know if I can survive this.” I admit to her. She stops pouring water over my skin and starts washing my hair. “You can survive anything, but you need to play it smart. Do not give him a reason to be angry with you, do not get in his way. Bare his pups and raise them to outstanding wolves. One day, it will not be like this, I have faith that the moon goddess has not given up on us yet. “For now, rest. Regain some strength, he will be back in to visit you soon. This is not a threat but a warning for you. He will not stop visiting you until you birth him a son.” She tells me. I close my eyes and think back to my parents, I have to survive for them. They can not get word their only daughter died at the hands of this monster. “We can do this, I am here. I will not leave you. I got you.” Opal says and her words give me some strength to hold on too.
