Andre Carlos did not like the position that he was in so early in the morning. But he knew that he did not have any other choice. His wife had been in a bad mood last night and so had he. He had been burdened with so much guilt and that was why he had set out so early in the morning.
The wrought iron gates groaned open, the rusty hinges a mournful chorus announcing Mr. Andre Carlos' arrival at Sterling Goldberg's estate. The morning sun cast the sprawling mansion in a stark light, highlighting the ornate gables and manicured hedges like a film set for a bygone era of opulence. Yet, for Andre, the grandeur held no charm today. A knot of anxiety festered in his gut, a bitter counterpoint to the sweet scent of magnolia blossoms that permeated the air.
