The beginning of 1835 was unnoticed in the houses of James Jr or Sr. Elizabeth Cullen, as she had done with Sarah Blay when she was sick, spent most of her time keeping James Sr company. She organised the newspapers for him, helped him with his meals, and shared stories of twenty years’ earlier when he first arrived at the Cullen Farm.
In their spare time, William and John had built a carry chair to make it easier to move their father between rooms in the house and to outdoors. They took the dining chair that had arms, placed logs whose size accommodated a man’s hand gripping them, under the chair, and nailed the logs into place.
