***James*** I watch Serena's eyes close once again, a vague smile on her face. Her expression is peaceful as she begins to lightly snore. I gently let go of her hand and lean back on the chair, feeling an overwhelming wave of relief, among other things, hit me very suddenly. I breathe in and out, feeling my respiratory rate increasing by the minute. My throat feels thick, and I reassure myself one more time that Serena is going to be okay before I quietly let myself out the door. I shut the door behind me and I go over to a large window at the end of the corridor, looking out at the cloudy skies above the city buildings that surround the hospital. The intensive care unit is quite high up and the view is spectacular...although I have thought over the past three days since Serena arrived
