My Silent Admirer

2. Chocolate

                Sleep left me early today and this was strange as I am the person who can sleep all day and all night provided that I don't have any work or there is no disturbance. But today, My mind was not at peace. Though after talking to Aakash yesterday, I felt light and better but still I guess I couldn't help but think about the note. 

                                     I got up from my bed and went towards my kitchen to make some tea. So that I don't get a headache so early in the morning. This was always my problem whenever I would think about a serious issue, my head would feel like as if I am banging my head on the wall. So to avoid this, I prepared a nice and strong ginger tea and went towards the balcony to sit and have the tea in silence. Few mins later, I finished my tea and called my parents which is a part of my routine that I forgot yesterday as I slept a little more than I should. My parents have always been supportive of whatever decisions I have taken in my life. I couldn't ask more from both of them who stood like a pillar by my side throughout life. Both my parents are in government companies and they are well settled in Delhi. Though when I had shifted to Mumbai, they too wanted to come along but that would result in them to come out of their comfort zone which I would not want in a million years. So I kept convincing them till they agreed on a condition that I would have to call them daily and if I missed a day then I would have to compensate the time on the next day. So keeping this in mind, I spoke to my parents about the general affairs. 

                                   After speaking to them for about half an hour, I went to do my morning chores. I came from the washroom and went towards my wardrobe. I went through the whole wardrobe and finally settled with a dark blue blouse and black pants.

     After getting ready, I went and grabbed an apple before leaving for work.  I left for work and drove my way to the office in 20 minutes as today there was some strike so I didn't get any traffic. After parking my car, I entered the office premises. As I walked towards my cabin I suddenly started feeling anxious thinking whether there is a note today also or not. I entered my cabin and my eyes darted towards the box that was again on my table. I opened the box which had a bar of chocolate along with a note. But this time it not only had morning wishes, but there was also a quote written on it. 

'Good Morning!

Challenges are what that make things interesting and overcoming problems them is what makes them meaningful.'

A few days later 

                                     I am just a second away from banging my head on the wall. God knows why they hire bosses like these. Well the thing is today as soon as I came to the office my HOD called me and gave me a brief about the work I am supposed to do which may take up to a week but she expects it in just 3 days. This is absolutely unfair but in her words - She thinks I am a fairly good employee who can pull it off. 

But can somebody please tell her that I may be a good employee but for god's sake I AM NOT A ROBOT !!!! 

                                     Playing with the paperweight, I tried to calm myself down when suddenly my eyes fell on the parcel I received today. I opened the box and again found a note along with a chocolate. Smiling slightly at the gesture, I opened the note and started reading it ...

'Good Morning,

You can't cross the sea merely by standing and staring at the water.

PS- Before starting have a cup of tea. '

     My mouth shaped in an 'o' as I read the last line of the note. How the hell he knew about all this? I have not told about this to anybody then how can he know? I have been receiving these notes from quite a few days now but still, there was no hint in these notes that would help me to know about the person sending these notes. My friends have an opinion that this person is harmless. Yes, Anvi and Aditi came to know about the notes. I mean which person can hide things from their friends? From the time they have come to know about this, they have been a constant support. Except for the fact that whenever I receive a note they start discussing my non-existent love life. 

                                           I guess more than me, they are excited to know who this secret admirer is. Though they were very concerned in the beginning when they got to know about the notes as they started reading them. They found it as a very cute and sweet gesture making me roll my eyes at them.  

                                          Shaking my head at my thoughts, I called Aditi and narrated her the whole thing and the mind-blowing response I get is squealing before she hung up on me. Chuckling at her behaviour, I got back to my work. 

In the evening 

                                        I was wrapping up my stuff to go home when suddenly these three monkeys barged in my cabin grinning like idiots as if they have won some lottery.

" Yes people, What do I owe to this pleasure? " I asked dramatically making them laugh their ass off. 

" Well that should be our line, anyway we are here to ask you where are you giving us a treat, " Aakash asked making me look at him with a confused expression. 

"What treat? I have not received any promotion or a hike so how come? " I questioned while they stared at me with their mouths wide open.    

"It's your birthday tomorrow Meghna, " Aditi said before shaking her head at me while I just stared them wide-eyed. 

"O-oh! S-so tell me where do you want me to give the treat ?" I asked smiling sheepishly at them while they muttered something incoherently. 

" That we will decide and tell you," Aakash said and shrugged. 

" Then why did you bother to ask me, i***t ?" I asked him while I could hear the girls snickering.

" Well, we all knew that you would forget your birthday like you have been doing from the past 2 years. So we came to remind you that keep your schedule free for tomorrow. " He said or more like ordered making me nod at him meekly. 

" So this time what excuse you have ?" Aditi asked and I looked at her bashfully. 

" Come on Aditi, Can't you see there are so many things happening around her. It must have slipped her mind " Anvi justified on my behalf making me give her a grateful smile. 

" You are right Anvi! After all, a secret admirer is on the loose who might steal her thoughts and in fact, her heart  " Aditi winked making me close my eyes in embarrassment while the trio laughed. 

GOD HELP ME !!!!!!!!!!

" You people are insane," I said and wrapped up my stuff. After which we exited the office and headed to our respective homes.
