Chapter 6:

Linda's eyes locked onto Alexander's, her expression neutral. "Haven't seen this face before, so I'm sure you're just assuming," she replied, her voice calm and collected. Alexander's eyes narrowed, his face reddening with annoyance. "Oh, maybe some casual girl," he muttered, his tone dripping with disdain. Andrew's eyes flashed with anger, and he stepped forward, his voice firm. "You won't speak to my woman like that, Alex," he said, his words a clear warning. Mrs. Taylor's eyes widened, and she placed a hand on Alexander's arm, her voice soothing. "Mom, we're here for vacation, and not for your son to talk or disrespect my wife," Andrew continued, his gaze locked onto his mother's. "Please warn your son, Mother." Mrs. Taylor's expression turned stern, and she turned to Alexander. "Alex, apologize to Andrew and his wife," she said, her voice firm. Alexander's face twisted in a scowl, but he muttered a half-hearted apology. Linda's eyes met Andrew's, and she saw a flicker of tension in his gaze. She sensed that there was a deep-seated sibling rivalry between Andrew and Alexander, and she wondered what had caused it. As the tension in the room began to dissipate, Andrew turned to Linda. "Let's excuse ourselves to our room," he said, his voice low. Linda nodded, feeling a sense of relief wash over her. As they walked to their room, Linda couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. She had never seen such open hostility between siblings before, and she wasn't sure how to navigate this new dynamic. Once they were safely inside their room, Linda turned to Andrew. "Why is your brother so mean?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper. Andrew's expression turned thoughtful, and he shrugged. "You don't have to bother yourself about him. He's always been like that," he replied, his voice matter-of-fact. Linda's eyes widened in surprise. She couldn't believe that Andrew was so nonchalant about his brother's behavior. Linda felt a pang of concern. She didn't want to get caught in the middle of a sibling rivalry, especially one that seemed as intense as this. "Just focus on your role, okay?" Andrew said, his voice interrupting her thoughts. Linda nodded, feeling a sense of determination wash over her. She would play her part to perfection, no matter what. As she looked at Andrew, Linda saw a glimpse of the tension he had been hiding. She realized that he was more affected by his brother's behavior than he let on. Linda's heart went out to him, and she felt a surge of protectiveness. She would do everything in her power to support Andrew, even if it meant navigating the treacherous waters of sibling rivalry. Linda took a deep breath, steeling herself for what lay ahead. She knew that the next few days would be challenging, but she was determined to rise to the occasion. She would be the perfect wife, no matter what Alexander threw her way. As she turned to Andrew, she saw a glimmer of appreciation in his eyes. "Thank you, Linda," he said, his voice low. "I appreciate your understanding." Linda smiled, feeling a sense of connection with Andrew. She knew that she had to be careful, that she couldn't let her feelings get the better of her. But as she looked at Andrew, she couldn't help but feel a spark of hope. Maybe, just maybe, this fake marriage would turn into something real. Just then, Mrs. Taylor summoned Alexander, her voice firm but controlled. "Alex, you won't be rude to your older brother like that," she said, her eyes flashing with disappointment. "You're so mean and very irresponsible, even in front of your girlfriend. You misbehave, and I'm not shocked. You're just so spoiled." Alexander's face twisted in a scowl, and he sneered at his mother. "What else am I expecting from you, Mother? To support me? No, of course not. Andrew is your favorite son, and you will surely support him," Alexander spat, his words dripping with venom. He turned to his girlfriend, Rita, and said, "Let's excuse ourselves. We know we're not welcome here, but this is my father's mansion, and I have the right to be here. I don't give a f**k about anything else." Rita looked uncomfortable, but she followed Alexander as he stormed out of the room. Linda, who had been coming to get something, saw the exchange and thought to herself, "Wonder what could be so wrong? Why is Andrew's brother so mean?" She shook her head, deciding to mind her own business. She didn't want to get caught up in the drama between Andrew and his brother. As she turned to leave, she met Alexander on her way, and his eyes narrowed as he looked at her. Alexander's gaze was so intense that Linda felt a shiver run down her spine. She tried to smile and nod in greeting, but Alexander didn't even acknowledge her. He just kept staring at her, his eyes filled with hostility. Linda felt uncomfortable and quickly looked away, trying to hurry past him. But Alexander's gaze followed her, and she could feel his eyes boring into her skin. Linda quickened her pace, anxious to get away from Alexander's toxic energy. She didn't understand why he was so mean and resentful, but she didn't want to find out. As she turned a corner, she let out a sigh of relief, grateful to be away from Alexander's prying eyes. Despite the uncomfortable encounter with Alexander, Linda couldn't help but wonder what had caused the rift between him and Andrew. She had sensed a deep-seated tension between the two brothers, and she couldn't help but feel curious. But she pushed the thoughts aside, reminding herself that she was here to support Andrew, not to get caught up in family drama. As she returned to her room, Linda's mind turned to Andrew, and she felt a surge of affection for him. She was grateful to be by his side, even if it was just a fake marriage. She knew that she had to be careful, that she couldn't let her feelings get the better of her. But as she thought about Andrew, she couldn't help but feel a spark of hope. Maybe, just maybe, this fake marriage would turn into something real. Maybe Andrew would come to realize that he had feelings for her, and maybe they could build a life together. Linda's heart skipped a beat at the thought, and she felt a smile spread across her face. But as she looked around her luxurious room, Linda's thoughts were interrupted by the sound of footsteps outside. She wondered if it was Andrew, come to check on her. She felt a flutter in her chest as she waited for the door to open, hoping that it would be Andrew on the other side. Andrew walked into the room, a smile on his face. "Linda, you need to take a shower and dress into something sexy. We'll be downstairs to eat dinner, okay?" he said, his eyes scanning her face. Linda nodded, feeling a flutter in her chest. "Yes, of course," she replied, her voice barely above a whisper. She quickly got ready, dressing in a beautiful outfit that accentuated her curves. She sprayed a nice perfume and put on a stunning necklace that made her look like a million bucks. As she walked downstairs beside Andrew, she felt like a queen. The way Andrew looked at her made her feel like she was the only woman in the world. As they sat down to eat dinner, Linda noticed that Alex and his girlfriend were also there. Alex's eyes kept straying to her, and she felt a sense of unease. She tried to focus on Andrew, but she could feel Alex's gaze on her. Just then, Alex spoke up, his voice low and husky. "You smell nice and look so good," he said, his eyes locked onto hers. Andrew's face darkened, and he replied, "How can you have a woman beside you and admire someone else's? Or do you have no regards for her?" The tension in the room was palpable, and Linda felt like she was stuck in the middle of a war zone. Just then, their mother intervened, her voice firm. "You both keep quiet. Can we just have a peaceful dinner, please? For crying out loud, what is it?" Just then, Linda's phone rang, shrill in the silence. She hesitated, wondering who it could be. She was scared to pick up, maybe it was her father, and he had caught her with Andrew. She didn't know what to do, and her heart was racing with anxiety. Andrew's eyes narrowed, and he asked, "Who is that?" Linda's hands trembled as she hesitated, unsure of what to say. Andrew's gaze intensified, and he repeated, "Who is that, Linda?" Linda took a deep breath and tried to compose herself. She knew she had to answer, but she was scared of what might happen. She slowly got up from her seat, trying to buy some time. "I'll just go and get it," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. As she walked away from the table, Linda's heart was racing with anxiety. She didn't know what to do, and she felt like she was trapped. She slowly picked up the phone, her hands trembling with fear. She looked at the screen and saw that it was indeed her father calling her. She took a deep breath and tried to compose herself, wondering what she would say to him. Linda's mind was racing with thoughts of what might happen next. She knew she had to answer her father's call, but she was scared of what he might say. She took another deep breath and slowly answered the phone, trying to prepare herself for the worst.
