Early the next morning, I went to cancel the wedding venue.
Ethan had arrived before me. When he saw me, his eyes lit up.
"Victoria, please forgive me. You spent more than 6 months planning this wedding. How can you just call it off? Don't worry. Chloe will never appear in our lives again."
The moment he finished speaking, Chloe appeared in the center of the venue in a white gown, holding a bridal bouquet.
In a hoarse, almost pleading voice, she called Ethan's name.
Ethan froze. His voice shook with barely suppressed rage.
"Why are you here? Chloe Sullivan, how many times have I told you not to bother me again? Get out!"
Chloe's eyes instantly went bloodshot. She strode toward him and clamped a hand around his wrist.
"Ethan, we were the ones who fell for each other first. Why do you have to stay with Victoria Hayes?"
Watching them made my head feel as if it might split open. Through clenched teeth, I forced out a few words.
"Can you two take your drama somewhere else?"
Chloe laughed coldly.
"Victoria, stop pretending. If you hadn't refused to let go, why would Ethan keep refusing to see me? Ethan and I are soulmates. He stayed with you only for your money and status. If you had nothing, he wouldn't even look at you."
"You're insane, Chloe Sullivan. You're insane!"
Ethan was anxious and furious. With red-rimmed eyes, he shoved at Chloe and swatted away her hands as she clung to him.
The hotel security guards noticed the scene and quickly dragged them both out.
The room finally fell silent again, and everything I had been holding back burst out at once.
I smashed and ripped apart everything I could see.
The wedding venue, once elegant and beautiful, became a wreck, just like my relationship with Ethan. It had looked bright and perfect on the surface, but underneath, it was already full of festering wounds.
I had to endure the pain and cut those wounds out one by one.
I slumped by the door. Only after my breathing steadied did I call my parents.
"Dad, Mom, Ethan and I are calling off the wedding."
They didn't understand what had happened, but they still supported my decision.
After I hung up, I collapsed onto the floor.
After so many sleepless nights, my vision kept going dark.
I was so exhausted that the moment I hit the floor, I lost consciousness.
I didn't know how long I had been out. When I woke up, I was in the hospital.
The quiet figure beside me moved slightly.
I turned toward him, my eyes full of disgust.
"Why are you still here?"
