I watched him swear without the slightest emotion.
"Your vows mean nothing."
Large tears rolled down Ethan's face. He lowered himself and begged bitterly.
"What do I have to do for you to forgive me? Do you need me to prove myself? Do I have to be punished before you'll believe me?"
"There's no need."
I took half a step back, distant and cold.
"Since you feel sorry for Chloe and keep taking her side, be with her openly. Make up for the youth you missed together. I sincerely wish the two of you a peaceful life together. Is that enough?"
All the strength seemed to leave Ethan's body. He collapsed onto the cold hallway floor, his eyes full of despair.
